“Norbury Lodge- Perfect for our family get together”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We stayed from Easter Saturday for a week in Norbury Lodge a week after the major snow fall. This made the hot tub and the log burner feel even more special! I chose this lodge as a means of getting mine and my partners adult children and their partners together, for a few days. The lodge suited this completely - lots of bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, massive table to eat around and play games on , very well furnished and easy to keep warm, even though the temp hovered around freezing for much of the week, and dropped to minus 8 at night!. A washer dryer came in handy for soggy clothes and towels. The only down side was the fridge freezer in the utility didn't appear to be working ( i have reported this so hopefully it will get sorted) but there was a fridge in the kitchen and anyway, we stored wine and beer outside as it was so cold!!

Blissfully quiet and scenic, attractive furnishings, and equipped with everything you could need - decent numbers of glasses, mugs, plates etc and a dishwasher so
We could walk to the local pub in about 15 mins but it is v dark on the way back. We went to Alton Towers twice with different family members, again, it says you can walk there but we didn't because of the extreme cold and also the roads are a bit hairy for walkers. We also went to the national arboretum (about 40 mins drive away) but other then that we hung around the lodge, relaxing, eating and drinking and playing games - it's perfectly suited to that

I would definitely recommend this to other groups of family and friends -all family members (and 2 dogs) loved it!

Stayed in the Woootton lodge at the ramshorn estate last weekend, never have I stayed anywhere & it's exceeded expectations - but this place certainly did! So much attention to detail, beautiful cabin, well laid out. I was most impressed with the size of the oven - we got 6 pizzas in it at once! The hot tub was perfect, as was everything else about the lodge. Hoping to return again. Can't recommend enough!

had a weekend in november with friends for my 40th, everything was perfect, except the weather but even the rain didnt spoil it, log fire was great and the lodge was red hot all weekend, had fun in the hot tubs and were used loads, plenty of space and the fittings were all top range, lovley chilling out on the settees or chatting and eating round the marvellous big table, enough fridge and cooking space for our party of 13, although no doors on the bathrooms it wasnt a problem at all for any of us and there was a main bathroom to use as well, we all had the best weekend and would defo return here for a second visit, we walked to the local pub a mile away and had a fantastic sunday lunch(everyone was fit to burst).

Not enough care taken with hygiene and cleaning, from minor things such as hardly any bin liners to tidy up and not enough toilet roll to the cupboard being full of someone else's dirty dishes... REALLY dirty, as if they had been put from the table into the cupboard instead of the dishwasher. Owners apologised but made no effort at all to compensate for arriving for the weekend and having to start washing up someone else's dishes as the first activity !

Modular sofas move apart when you sit on them.

Great delivery service when you leave money out for wood to be delivered, beautiful scenery and surroundings... Hot tub worked great even in freezing weather.

Booking and organisation was excellent, site caretaker was really helpful.

Have just returned from an unforgettable weekend at the ramshorn estate. As a party of 12 girlies we stayed in the Norbury. As soon as we arrived nothing disappointed and that was the same for the entire weekend. The lodge was equipped with everything we needed and the hot tub was superb. Even though there was 12 of us staying in the lodge it was so spacious it never felt cramped.
Even the fire was laid ready for us and John the log man kept our supplies topped up! We drove to Alton Towers on the Sat and it was literally 5 mins away. The hot tub was a welcome sight after a full days walking around the theme park.
On the Sunday we had booked a table at the local olde Star inn for a car very and it was outstanding. Very reasonable and lovely food.
If I had to suggest anything then maybe a few more mirrors. With a gaggle of women a mirror in every room would be helpful!
For the price paid the weekend was excellent value and the standard top notch!

Spent 4 days in the Farley lodge in May 2012. The lodge is beautiful, modern, clean and very spacious.we didn't have a hot tub but this was reflected in the price and we didn't miss it. Perfect for visiting Alton towers, however it did say that it's a short walk - more like a good 30/40mins and as you walk through the field there was a huge Bull in same field. So if the weather is nice and you don't mind a bull then it is in walking distance - we turned back and took car as we had a 2yr old and didn't like the way the bull looked at us :) all in all i would definitely recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed.

A really wonderful week spent in the Wootten Lodge. The location really is perfect and even though there were large groups in nearby lodges, you would never have known........ it was extremely peaceful and a perfect break away. We had a really great time in spite of the weather and will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: I'm not sure if all the Lodges are the same but Wootten has a beautiful open-plan staircase whic...
