Pros: amazing views, beautiful rooms with very confortable beds, panoramic pool and very nice beach (Bendida beach), very friendly staff at the restaurants and good food/service;

Cons: the staff at the reception doesn't always understand English and sometimes it's difficult to communicate;

Tips: in high season you have to book in advance a sunbed at Agrata beach (spectacular and private) - we were told that it was fully booked for the hole month but we had lunch at the restaurant on the beach just to enjoy the views.

A family of 3 generations, we stayed at a two-bedroom apartment (we also used the rollaway sofa in the living room for the kids), with great views towards the sea from one side and the golf course from the other. The apartments are very spacious, nicely appointed, with classy, stylish furniture, all cons in the kitchen, large flat-screen TV, free wi-fi, big terrace with table and chairs for alfresco dining. Both bedrooms had en-suite bathrooms. All very new, clean and well-maintained.

There is one restaurant -- Geti -- where breakfast is served (nice, but nothing extraordinary). It is also open for lunch and dinner and features a Mediterranean-style menu, with fine selection of Bulgarian and imported wines. Dining on the terrace which is perched above the sea is a must. Service is good, albeit a bit slow at times.

The resort features an amazingly beautiful and difficult golf course, Gary Player design. All holes have a view of the sea, one (#7) has its tee box in the sea - on a small island. Golf carts are mandatory, and frankly, indispensable as the distances and the slopes between the holes would make walking the course (and towing the golf bag) almost impossible. The driving range is wide and undulating, with sand traps, flags at different distances etc., but needs some sort of a sunroof or a tent -- to provide shade from the burning sun.

There are two beaches -- one more spacious (Bendida) and also open to external visitors, featuring a nice restaurant with cabanas, the other more secluded (Argata) featuring a smaller beach bar with more limited menu. Guests of the resort get parasols, sunbeds and towels included in their room rate, and reservations for the beach are kept automatically until 11 am. As it is a long distance from the main reception area, walking to the beaches is almost impossible. Shuttle by buggies is arranged, but could be erratic or subject to longer waits at times. The beaches are sandy, with shallow sea initially, very pleasant.

There is a spa in the resort and 4 open-air pools; but getting to those can be tiresome as they are located uphill.

Overall, the resort is great for golfers and families with kids seeking more seclusion and clean beaches. Entertainment for the little ones (excluding the beach and the water sports) could be a bit of an issue, but the nearby town of Balchik should more than compensate. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment in the same building where the reception and pro-shop are -- great views toward...

The resort's location is spectacular, with breathtaking views and great landscaping. Bendida, the resort's beach open to external customers, is nicely done with parasols and sunbeds spaced out very comfortably, as well as cabana-style shaded areas for larger parties. It features a beach bar and restaurant. Overall, the feel is one of seclusion and serenity, a much treasured sentiment, given the explosive growth in the number of resorts and holiday apartments in the general area. The water, although at times sandy and sea-weedy, is cleaner and more pleasant than anywhere else in the resort areas. Overall, one can expect to enjoy a nice day at the beach thoroughly.

That said, there is something to be said for attentive customer service. We were treated fantastically by the front desk staff. However, customer service can be hit and miss for the bar folks, with long waits for order taking, and overall clumsiness redolent of post-socialist disregard for "customer is king" attitudes. That, coupled with the less than fragrant beach restroom facilities, leaves one with a bit of a bad taste.

To be recommended, with these caveats.

Thracian Cliffs provided us (family with 3 generations) an almost perfect week of vacation in a spacious apartment with great view on the black sea and the golf course along the cliffs. When we were there in July 2012 we met younger and older couples, families with kids at all ages and a large group of middle-aged golfers coming from Bulgaria, Germany, Romania, Russia and UK.
You can tell that the initial focus of the management has been more on golf and beach than dining. The golf section has an excellent head pro Vess with an engaged crew taking care of a marvellous course in splendid condition which is almost as tough to play as cyprus point and tougher than pebble beach links (especially with no caddies available to help reduce frustration when you play the course only once). The two beaches have very clean sand with some algae, day beds on the more private beach, plenty of umbrellas with lounge mats and brand new water sports equipment on the larger beach incl. water-ski, a waiter walking along the beach to take and serve orders. The food and wine in the restaurants is good (incl. fresh fish) and high value for money, but the service is not yet constantly perfect (e.g. the waiters are mostly good and sometimes excellent, but we also had 1 lousy day). The newly recruited crew from the neighbourhood (which we feel is more authentic and sustainable than foreigners) is very keen to repair or compensate any weakness (e.g. quickly find a colleague with better English or German to help translate). Ask for an introduction at the beginning of your stay, feel free to ask for special orders during breakfast, reserve day beds in advance and rent a cab for less than €50 for a 3 hour trip over lunch to the castle and splendid gardens in Balcik.

Room Tip: If you have a family then go for the 3 bedroom suites/apartments.

It's fantastic what Bulgarians has done in an area where 4 years ago it was absolutely nothing! The resort (opened in 2011) is manly for golfers and the design of the golf course was made by Gary Player, ex golf champion in the 70's. 18 holes on a 4,5 km ride, along Black Sea Coast, on the cliffs. Fabulous views, excellent conditions.
Accomodation is made in elegant villas, extremely spacious rooms, with very nice views over the sea. 5 stars for the rooms. WiFi internet free around the resort. One restaurant (pretty small, but cosy) and one cafe. A shop for golfers, and a lot of facilities for them.
Two beaches (Bendida and Argata), one is private, the other is public, with nice hammacks and lounge beds.
There is also a splendid spa, with Moroccans furniture and with all the facilities it needs. A fantastic view, also from the spa terrace.
Food is pretty ok, in Bulgarian way, but with fine taste.
The only thing that can be improved are the personal's way of being. It's not bad, but can be better for an exclusive 5 stars complex like Thracian.
For sure, in the next year Thracian will have a huge development, because the owners have a lot of things in their minds. In the zone are 3 golf resorts (along with BlackSeaRama and Lighthouse), but Thracian is from far the best!

We have just returned from the best vacation ever.

The resort is located on the very edge of the cliff making the views absolutely breathtaking. Not only is the view over the sea amazing but there is also a very beautifull golfcourse.

There is no doubt that Thracian Cliffs has managed to build and operate a resort with very high standards. I haven't seen such high standards anywere in Bulgaria or in most European resorts.

At the moment the resort is not completed allthough you don't notice this as a guest. At the moment there are two complexes Marina Village and Hillside apartments. We stayed in a great two bedroom apartment in Hillside leaving pleanty of space for 4 adults and two children. At Hillside there are three pools and from our apartment we measured that 25 steps and youre are still dry - 26 your in the pool - again placed in a way you can always enjoy the great view over the resort and the Black sea.

The golfcourse is set to be one of the top three golfcourses in the world - naturally this is impossible to measure but no doubt this is just something out of the extraordinarry. I have played many different courses and I was just amazed and couldn't believe the sight this course was build on. Every hole was a great hole and as a player you almost couldn't wait to get to the next hole just to see what sigh/view you would meet. Top three in the world mayby - but surely a course never to forget.

There are two beaches at the resort with nice sand and beautifull water. Naturally any beach at the Black Sea will benefit from a buitifull sea and the water is just great. There are bars and restaurants and even water sport activities at the beach making it a nice stay for a whole day.

I have never used tripadvisor and normally don't recommend places to anyone because we have different perseptions on what make a great vacation. For us this is deffinately a place we will enjoy again next year it was exactly what we have been looking for and hoped to meat at other places - now we found it :-)
