I have not been to The Nag`s Head for about five years and I`m pleased to say it still has a good atmosphere and is under the same ownership. Lunch was very good , well presented and very tasty. Service was also very good and friendly . The choice of food is vast with lots of specials on blackboards and the chips are cooked in beef dripping. It was nice to have a open fire in the cosy bar on what was a very cold day. Well kept beer and a very good selection of wines. I will not leave it so long until my next visit.

Whether you drop in as a couple, for a quick bite of supper on the way home or visit for a family celebration, the welcome from the resident owners/ managers, who work very hard behind the bar and waiting at tables, is always warm and friendly. The food is excellent, with a varied menu incorporating old favourites such as "Bangers & Mash" useing Debbie & Andrews' locally produced sausages, or "Monster Fish and home made chips with mushy peas" ( they will provide garden peas if like me, you can't stand mushy peas), through a range of locally sourced steaks, to game, when in season and regular changing speciality dishes.
Worth making the effort to find this village pub/hotel/restaraunt, tucked away in the village of Pickhill, North Yorkshire

We used this hotel for a recent golf trip and found it very comfortable, the food was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly with the exception of the barman in the restaurant's tap room who would probably benefit greatly from a Customer Service training course. This apart it was a fantastic location for where we were playing although some travel issues with the bridge on the A61 being closed resulting in a tour of North Yorkshire to actually get to it. The hotel arranged the golf package on our behalf for which we benefited from their negotiated discounted rates so well worth checking with them first before booking any golf courses in the area. Although we used the hotel as a base for the golf trip I would have no hesitation in staying here with my partner for the food and service alone, although clearly avoiding the tap room!

Scenario: Male guest has dinner and drink then throws golf ball around the room.
Question: What do you do?
Choose: 1. Ignore it and any damage
2. Join in and have some fun!
3. Tell him to desist.

We received a warm welcome and the food was excellent, best belly pork ever, we will definately be back. The pub was a little harder to find following recent changes to the A1, however, was worth the perseverence.

Stayed here one night 28th August. Very warm welcome from the landlord. Room a bit spartan but spotlessly clean and confortable bed. Food in the restaurant - Outstanding! Could not fault in any way. Same goes for breakfast. I will stay here again
