Owner description: This fantastic pre-art deco picture palace was first opened in 1912. For decades it was the place to see the latest Hollywood and British blockbusters. It closed in the 1980’s after a short spell as a bingo hall. Now – thanks to a £2.1 million restoration project – the Hippodrome is open again, lovingly restored to its 1926 heyday. With a great program of blockbusters, art house and classic favorites, there’s bound to be something for everyone.

The Hipporome is over 100 years old and has been beautifully restored. You can see the latest films and special showings, even black and white silent films
So, not the movies but the pictures

“fantastic experience for any family”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

What a find! love it when everyday historical buildings are restored and used by the community, this reminded me of my trips to the cinema on a saturday morning as a child its got a lovely intimate feel to it.,nothing like a multiplex, but the sound and screen quality are as good.
We went to a cuppa screening it was £5.85 for an adult this included the film and I had a latte and a slice of iced ginger bread for this,my husband a tea and a slice of carrot cake our 6yr old son was just £2.70 for the film and nobody batted an eyelid when he brought out his own sweets and juice. You can buy an ordinary family ticket for £16.00. Which is fantastic value ,it's a great find and staff are very helpful. We booked our ticket over the phone and picked them up 30mins before the film started from the box office, which gave us just enough time to enjoy our cuppa and cake before the film started. We went to see Tthe Croods in the school easter holidays so it was great to have such a good value day out.

“A beautiful bit of history, An Icon, A Classic”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

What a beautiful "Diamond in the rough". Bo'ness has a spectacular little cinema which is immaculately well maintained, friendly helpful staff and the best rates for cinema especially in these times of austerity when money needs to go that little bit further. We went on a family ticket to see "The Croods" which was half the price of the big multi plex cinemas you go to at only £16.00 for a family of 4 it is excellent value. Beautiful surroundings and very clean. Most comfortable seats I have ever had in the cinema and I have paid extra for the executive experience else where but this beats them all hands down. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and even advised us of the kids film on this weekend. Will definately recommend it to all and will be back. Says a lot that our kids aged 14 and 7 were both impressed with the experience and want to come again to try the balcony seats to see what the view is like from up there. Another point is that it was not too noisy either which has always been an issue for my 7 year old. Top Marks Hippodrome. Well done. See you soon.

“First Class Experience”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We went there on the Scottish " Open doors " day. Totally overawed by the art deco cinema and fantastic, AND I MEAN FANTASTIC, staff.
Because of that day we have been back several times since to the " cuppa screanings " where you get a film, cup of coffee and a cake for a fiver. A brilliant matinee screening in a classic cinema. It puts the Regal in Bathgate to shame.
We will continue to go back as often as possible.

“What a fabulous cinema”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

This is a wonderful old school cinema with all of the charm of a traditional movie experience, with none of the vulgarity of a multiplex. Don't be fooled by the old fashioned exterior - the technology is top class so both the sound and vision is excellent.
