The resort is good and staff quite courteous. it is close to the Moharli gate so convenient. However, as we travelled in the off season, perhaps the food items in stock were not fresh and this resulted in acute stomach infection from day one and finally had to be hospitalised in Nagpur for treatment. safari vehicle not in good condition and the driver was not quite experienced to show spottings. Were also not told park would close at 10 a.m. so started past 7 a.m. and then had to rush back. so sightings were poor.

First - you dont get mobile signals - so I was happy on that count. Second - the resort has limited accommodation - that too made me happy as one doesnt have to jostle for food in the common dining hall. Third - the staff are courteous , accommodating and quite helpful . On the down side , the vehicles that they rent out for the safaris are jalopies - I wonder how the vehicles are still in one shape. A discussion with the owner - who was of course very courteous and accommodating like his staff - gave reply about "Gypsy owner's association" having a "monopoly" and so on - very unconvincing to my jaundiced suspicious city bred ears! The food though very homely was a little on the spicy side leading to an upset tummy but they were kind enough to tone down the oil and spices on request . They have a strict no booze policy and i AM VERY Happy with that since alcohol fueled imaginations can run riot . In sum the resort people are helpful and very courteous - check the vehicles which you will ride. The Moharli gate entrance is just 500 meters from this resort so when you book ask for the entry through this gate - unfortunately my entry was through the Khutwanda gate which was 18 kms away , resulting in an early wakeup every day for me ! That apart the resort is a pleasant place . I would actually give it three and three quarters stars but since there is no such system I will stick to three .

We reviewed many resorts before zeroing in on Royal Tiger Resort. Positive reviews on tripadvisor were a big help. But closer to travel date, I saw two very bad reviews on tripadvisor about mismanaged safari bookings!! When I called Mr. Bapat, to my ill luck, two out of my four safaris were shared...which I did not want. After much arguments, I manged to get only one shared safari. Thank God. I was apprehensive to go to RTR, but it was too late to book another resort. But when we reached there, we were well received. The involved Manager Ravi was friendly and made us comfortable. His assistant Manoj and the chef Shiva add to the service levels. Biggest advantage is the proximity to the main Moharli gate...10 mins walk. The simple but excellent tasty food is the next positive. Cold fresh towels upon return from safaris & hot snacks after the evening safari is another positive. Rooms are spacious, but slightly better upkeep would be welcome. The toilet is spacious & clean!!! AC was not extremely effective in the peak summer. The jeep organised by the resort was old...but trust me the driver Mr. Akaash was so good that we chose him & his jeep for all four safaris. With him, we didn't need a guide. His timing & senses are perfect. We thank him for several good tiger sightings & great pictures. Undoubtedly, this resort is manged by the great work of Ravi & Shiva and their team. But they need more guidance, training and refinement. Laundry was a washout!! None responded. This is a developing resort & the promoters should invest in better customer relations & satisfaction. They need all the good reports from satisfied patrons. The resort can be managed much better & inputs from the promoters in this regard will help. Will I choose RTR on my next visit to Tadoba?? Of course I will!!!

Room Tip: Some Delux rooms have a cottage feel, so choose Super Delux only if you need the extra space & c...

This May we decided to go back again to Tadoba, a place about 30 Kilometer from Chandrapur and about 170 odd kilometer from Nagpur in Maharashtra. And obviously the purpose was to visit TATR – Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve! Last year we did some survey before making the choice about the place to stay, but this year it was quite simple – called up Mr. Bapat, made the booking and transferred the advance booking amount! Yes, this was our second visit to Royal Tiger Resort and overall we enjoyed our stay in both the occasions!

Location: This is a remote place though well connected by road from Chandrapur (nearest railway station but have limited choice of trains) or Nagpur (nearest Airport and also railway junction). The resort is well located near the Moharli Gate (I think there are 2 other gates to enter TATR) where some other resorts including MTDC are also there! You can reach the entry gate within 2 minutes by car. But this place is truly an Indian village – so please do remember to pack all your stuff before making a visit here!

Resort: The resort is very well maintained. And it always gives us the feeling of openness. Both the times we were there in the peak of Summer while daytime temperature is hovering around 50 deg C. But while within the room you will not feel the heat – the credit goes to air-conditioner which works even during power cuts (this is very common in this place and half of the time they run on DG)! Dining area is not having any air-conditioner but still very pleasant!
The best part of the resort is its well-maintained green lawn which is a nice place to sit out in the evenings after coming back from afternoon safari – watch the sunset while having your evening coffee!
There is small play area (2 see-saw, 2 swings & 1 slide) for the kids – basic yet working! Our daughter used to spend about an hour a day here!
They have newly constructed a fish tank and a water fountain at the corner of the lawn – but they can put better fish there and water should be cleaned more frequently!
They have 4 categories of rooms – Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, Family Room. Rooms are good in size, beds are comfortable, have LCD TV (I know about Deluxe and Super-Deluxe rooms – not too sure about the other type of rooms!!), decent bathrooms with 24 hour hot and cold water (they have fixed solar panels for the geysers). This year they have increased the room rents – rates are little on higher side but considering the cleanliness, food, service etc. it may not pinch you!

Food: They have fixed menu buffet breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. While Breakfast and Lunch are always Vegetarian, but they serve Non-Vegetarian (Chicken only) and Dessert (both limited) on the table for Dinner. Food is local Maharashtrian style - non spicy and non-greasy but very tasty!! We thoroughly enjoyed the food here!! Their cook Shiva did a great job! They also serve morning tea @5:15 am before morning safari and evening tea & Snacks at 6:30 pm after return from afternoon safari. Here they maintain the timing very religiously: breakfast at 10 am after return from morning safari, Lunch between 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm before afternoon safari, Dinner between 8:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Cold Drinks and bottled drinking water are available on order. Food quality is good and reasonably priced (considering all the ingredients/ supplies come from Chandrapur).
Alcohol is not served and not allowed in the resort.

Service: Service is good! Both the owners are personally involved and look after day to day affair. Mr. Dina is available in the resort every day from morning through evening. Manager, Mr. Ravi is efficient and helpful! Other staff are all local and they are very courteous and helpful! A special mention about Mahadev who is available for help!
The best part is the cold towel they provide to everybody after return from every safari – that is so soothing!

Safari: This is the most important part to visit this place! Last year we did it through the resort and we had good experience! This year we did it through someone I know through other sources and it was good as well!! But please plan it well in advance as they issue very limited passes!!
And please do remember, they have closed half of the routes / trails as per Supreme Court ruling – so you will be left with very limited routes to try your luck!!

Summary: I have not stayed in any other resort in Tadoba so cannot compare it with any other place – but considering our experience in last 2 visits here, we would surely stay here if we visit this place again!!
Recommended!!

Room Tip: All rooms are good - choose based on your need and budget!! We stayed in same Deluxe room both the t...

Hi friends...This time it was a revisit to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and also at the Royal Tiger Resort...this resort is a kind of oasis in such a remote place...on both the occassions we had a memorable time not only inside the Reserve but at the resort too...Manager Ravi...house keeping plus helping hand Mahadev...their cook Shiva...and all the other helping boys...they but their best foot forward to ensure each guest's needs are taken care properly...Resort is a small property....located just next to the Moharli gate of Tadoba Reserve...nearness to the gate is a huge advantage for people staying in this property...property is mainted beautifully...at a place where temperature is generally near to 50 degrees in summers they have a lush green lawn right at the middle of the property. In the evening when guests are back from an afternoon safari...it's a treat to sit here...enjoy a lovely sunset and munch some delicious snacks prepared by cook shiva...rooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean...bathrooms are reasonably good and they provide 24 hours running hot and cold water...in spite of facing frequent power cuts...due to generator back up...guests dont face much of a problem...during our stay one night the generator ran out of diesel...heat was unbearable and we had an early morning safari planned for next morning...but once my husband called and informed Ravi...the manager...he was there immediately and within one and a half hour they arranged diesel and power supply was restrored...we call it good crisis management...breakfast, lunch and dinner are as per set menu and are served strictly according to trimming...food is simple non oily and non spicy...yet very tasty...Four types of rooms are available...standard, delux, super delux and family room...all rooms are equipped with Ac s and most of them have TV with satellite connection...there is a small play area for kids to keep them amused when we are not busy with Safari...on request Resort can arrange Safaris to the Reserve...but you must know that according to strict government regulations...limited Safari permits are available per day...hence plan and book at least four to five months in advance to avoid last minute disappointment ...though Resort arranges Safaris...but it is not mandatory to book through them...if you know some other Safari operators...you are free to book through them too...friends...overall a very well maintained resort...and provides a tremendous sense of coziness and comfort after a tough safari at the Tadoba Tiger Reserve...keep up your good work...all at Royal Tiger Resort...will definitely stay with you when we are again back to Tadoba...!!!

We traveled to Tadoba in the hot month of May.
The resort was a good choice we made.
The ACs did not let us feel the temperature of 46 degrees. There were no power cuts, not even once.
The family room we stayed in was nice and clean. As all six of us could accommodate in a single room, we could enjoy the time together.
The food was mild and good. The restaurant and overall campus was clean.
Management was good. Ambiance was good too with a maintained lawn.
Service was really good. The best part was getting cold towels after coming back from safari.
Some minor issues we realized were that the condition of safari jeep was not up to the mark. Our jeep had some trouble in the jungle, although it was not serious. Another issue was there was no intercom telephone in the room. Also there was limited choice for breakfast.
In short, it is a place for people traveling with family or friends who want to enjoy the stay quietly.
