We were given a very warm welcome. Caroline made us a welcome cup of tea and a selection of delicious breads which she had made that morning. Rafters was very cosy and everything we needed was provided. The gardens are beautiful and the surrounding scenery was stunning. I would be happy to recommend Rafters to anyone.
Excellent stay and excellent host. Hot tub was a highlight as it has a wonderful view over the garden / lake. Would highly recommend it for couples or families as there is plenty to do and the area has lots to keep you entertained.
Because of a simple mistake, we had nowhere to stay and were lucky enough to find a lady who knew the Johnstons nearby. Mark arrived and in short order we were housed in the 'Rafters' at the Old Rectory, set on the shore of Lough Killyfole: it had everything, no need to even bring washing-up liquid. The location is idyllic, with so many facilities on hand and much to do (or not, as you choose) in and around the site. They have built a most exquisite holiday venue suitable for the likes of us (in our later years) to families with children. We explored the surrounding areas in search of locations where ancestors lived and worked (Crom Castle, Belturbet, Cavan, etc.).The icing on this particular cake was the kindness and help given to us by Caroline, a warm and bubbly person whose T-shirt read 'Such Fun'; sums her up exactly.
