Few drinks a pleasant meal, freshly cooked, at such a reasonable price, staff who engaged in good conversation, real fire. A perfect evening of relaxation.

“Fantastic Service, Great Bar Staff and generous Host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2014

Popped in here by chance and was go glad we did. Got a warm welcome from the Barman who served us some great cocktails, drinks and crazy shots. There were 9 of us and we were here for hours. There was a live band on in a different part of the hotel which we wandered over to see, had a dance and some more drinks with the owner who was very generous plying us with gorgeous pizza. Would return just for them! The tequillas kept coming along with some home made Sangria (which was the best I have ever tasted), All 9 of us have made a pact to return. Watch out Birnam Inn, were coming back for a re-run :):):)

“good food and service”

Lovely little restaurant. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. We ate in the bar because we had our two Labradors with us. We visited twice and all dishes were of a high standard.

“Birnam Inn”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is a review of the Inn, next door to the hotel. I am a local in the area, fairly new and took my family to eat here recently. The food is decent, pizza's excellent (calzone a bit soggy). We found the staff really friendly and helpful, but what really spoiled it for us was the soulless decor and atmosphere of the place and unless it changes we are unlikely to return or take visitors there.

There is a TV in the bar and restaurant which seems to be on all the time even in an empty restaurant. The lights are very bright at night, not a cosy atmosphere at all. The decor is pretty tasteless and modern. It just feels like this place has so much potential. The area is crying out for a real traditional comfy, cosy bar/restaurant that has space for families or groups going out.

I am certainly not alone in thinking this as many other locals also lament the lack of atmosphere here that puts them off, most opting for takeaway pizza rather than spend time here. It would make a killing if it de-modernised (the Logierait Inn is a great example of an appealing place to go for a meal), took the TV's out and had nice lighting (fairy lights, Comfy sofa's!). it is spacious enough to seat a lot of people (Howies locally is fantastic, but for larger groups of families it is quite small) and I know it would be heaving if it appealed to local people more.

As my husband said its amazing how getting something slightly wrong can really spoil the whole atmosphere of a place. If they ever do improve these things, ourselves and half the population of Dunkeld and Birnam will be fighting over tables! They should be trying to appeal to locals as well as tourists who will only eat there once.

If these things don't bother you then the food and service are good!
