Just back from 3 nights in a 3 bed contempory lodge on the erigmore estate. First impressions were good with a well tended resort and friendly staff. The lodge itself surpassed all expectations. So beautiful! And very fancy! The kitchen was stunning and had everything you could possibly need. Even a dishwashing kit was provided. (Nice touch). The kitchen and living room were open plan with a lovely big sofa, leading on to an excellent deck. The view of the meadow and the woods below was very peaceful. 2 big double rooms and a big twin room. Two bathrooms, one Ensuite and one jack and Jill. The accommodation was spotless and full of mod cons. The resort itself has a play park for kids under 5 and an excellent pool and sauna. The zebra bar was good for using wifi in the evenings and did a great coffee.

The resort is ideally located, just 5 mins drive to birnam which has plenty of cafes and restaurants. It also has the beatrix potter centre which our 3 year old enjoyed. dunkeld is a further 2 miles down the road and boasts even more restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, old national trust buildings and the amazing cathedral. It also has a great cermaics shop called Going Pottie where kids choose a ceramic of their choice to paint. My 3 year old loved it. And the lady who ran the shop was lovely.

The Hilton Dunkeld is close by and nicely situated for a coffee and scone by the riverside. My husband also went clay pigeon shooting there and had a great time.

If you enjoy wlaking there are penty of scenic walking routes all leading from erigmore. You can walk to both birnam and dunkeld through birnam wood. It is a stunning woodland walk alongside the river. The walk passes by the famous birnam oak from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and under Telfords bridge.

All in all a great stay and we'll definitely go back.

Only one negative...for the elevated price they are charging we would have expected wifi in the actual lodges, and a BBQ for use on the decking.

Stayed July 13 in cherry plum lodge for 4 nights.

This is the first time I have stayed in a lodge, so whilst I cant compare it to other similar places I can say that I enjoyed the experience. So much so I have already booked a return visit.

The estate is handily located just off the A9 (horrible and dangerous road) on the outskirts of Birnham and Dunkeld. Our lodge had a wonderful view on to a hillside (shame part of it is being
deforested) and did feel like it was in the middle of nowhere. Very peaceful indeed and even though the estate was fully booked it is laid out in such a way that it felt that no one else was around.

The lodge was very nice, well kitted out and fitted out to a very nice spec. Everything felt fairly new, was clean and in good condition. Starlight colour changing effect on celling was cool. One thing that is missing is a fan for the rare warm Scottish day. It does happen some times. More towels would be handy also.

The outside space is great and the hot tub is extremely nice. Blue light effect is very cool after dark.

We never used any of the facilities in the main area such as bar, pool etc.

I really liked Dunkeld as a town, very picturesque with the river Tay, old buildings and hills in back ground. The walk along the river path past the Birnam Oak is very nice. In Birnam there is a spar shop (out of estate turn right and there in 5-10 mins) and in Dunkeld there is a Co-op. We got a take away pizza from Birnam inn which was nice. We ate at howies in dunkeld was also nice (typical bistro style). The culinary star of dunkeld is its chippy- its awesome!

We visited hermitage during visit stay, very nice wooded waterfalls. We also done a Ben Nevis and Glencoe visit which was very nice although we hit some typical local weather.

Booked to celebrate my 30th....what a wonderful place. We stayed in Cherry Plum Lodge, (1 bed spa lodge) and it was beautiful - well positioned to offer complete privacy, even though the site was full, we could well have been the only ones there.
The staff are very helpful, I emailed some queries and they got straight back to me, and I had a lovely bottle of prosecco waiting for me as a birthday pressie (when you stay here you'll notice the small touches).
The lodge itself was beautiful. totally spotless, very well laid out, loved all the gadgets and buttons (spent an hour just finding all the light switches!) You certainly get value for money here.
Dunkeld is lovely, very picturesque. Everyone we came across was so helpful, lovely little shops. We are keen hikers, and if this is your thing, can highly recommend the £1 leaflet from tourist information in Dunkeld, with a good network of walks for all abilities.
We didn't use the car at all, Dunkeld about 20 mins walk along river, we walked up to Loch of the Lowes reserve, well worth the £4 entry fee, we saw the famous Osprey and red squirrels too!
We had planned to eat out a couple of nights, but to be honest the hot tub was so amazing we didn't bother! We ate supper at a lovely pub in Dunkeld, The Atholl Arms, with a lovely garden down to the river.
There is a handy Co-op in Dunkeld, along with a butchers, bakers, a few take aways and bistros etc. Didn't use facilities on the estate but it all looked lovely.
Highly recommend a walk up to PineCone Point, but be warned - its a steep climb! Well worth it though. Also try and visit The Hermitage - about 2 miles from the estate - fantastic trails and waterfalls.
All in all, Perthshire, and in particular, Dunkeld and Erigmore, really impressed me and my partner, and trust me, we are picky!
Can't wait to come back - and will definately be booking the Spa Lodge again! Thanks for an amazing holiday and the best birthday ever!!

Room Tip: Cherry Plum Lodge, in fact all Spa Lodges, are perfectly located to afford peace and quiet, and lots of privacy.

Stayed here 30th July-3rd Aug this year with my girlfriend & had a very relaxing 4 nights:) we stayed in a 2 bedroom caravan as all the lodges were taken but if we come back again we will stay in the caravan as the size was very spacious for 2 people. Location is really good as you are in walking distance to Birnam & Dunkeld & a walk along the riverside is really nice. It wasn't that expensive £299 for 2 people sharing & if you just want to get away from it all then come here..you won't be disappointed:)!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom lodge which was very modern and had everything we required.
The pool was lovely and we had a great meal in the restaurant. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful river walk to Dunkeld and we didnt need the car all weekend. Fantastic time and we will definately be back.
