This place is a quiet nice lodge with very friendly staff and delicious breakfast! Good located and only 20 min away from Fortuna and the surrounded activities like the volcano and hanging bridges national park!

This is my first time in the tropics, and what a wonderful introduction.

What for me is most special about this place is while it is comfortable, trails that go into primary rainforest start from within a hundred metres of the centre of the complex. Even while sitting by the pool, restaurant or outside the bedrooms (many of which are stand alone bungalows), the variety of wildlife is fabulous: from these easy vantage points we have seen a sloth, humming birds, parrots, toucans... Going into the rainforest itself is of course wonderful, we chose to go on a guided night hike where we saw various frogs including the tiny but surprisingly loud Tink Frog, monstrous but “friendly” bullet ants (reputed to give the most painful bite of any insect in the world) being predated by a tailless whip scorpion. Very exciting!

This is one of a number of different tours laid on by the hotel, meaning that one could spend a week here without a hire car. They all come at an added cost, apart from the included“farm tour”. This was an excellent tour of the grounds around the hotel complex led by the interesting and very knowledgeable Alberto.

The hotel is actually the third phase of the development of this place, which started life as a farm, then established a teaching centre, which helps promote the ideas that underpin this place, namely sustainable, and even regenerative farming.

Dear N1cP,

Thank you very much for your visit.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. It is wonderful that you got to see so much wildlife during your visit. It is true we are really lucky to be right next to the Children's Eternal Rainforest which gives us the opportunity to see many species that you could only see in primary Rainforests. Its great that you had such a great experience with us. Pura Vida!

What a special place! First and foremost, it is a farm experimenting with various forms of sustainable agriculture. Secondarily, it is an eco lodge. The tourism element was introduced later as a way to support the farm’s work. It truly is a living classroom. The tours are so informative and worthwhile. My daughter commented that she didn’t know one could learn so much in just one day.

If all you’re interested in is staying in the lap of luxury, this might not be for you. The rooms are simple and modest - in keeping with the lodge’s commitment to sustainability and resource conservation - but they are comfortable, spotless and beautifully situated. The food is hearty, healthy, delicious and always included some great vegetarian and vegan options.

Be aware that this is a rainforest, so (depending on which season you visit) don’t be surprised if it rains! We didn’t mind at all; it added to the beauty of the place. Bring a poncho, some good books, maybe a game or two and simply relax and enjoy the stunning scenery, the delightful staff and the great trails.

If you’re interested in ecology and learning more about sustainability; if it matters to you that your tourism dollars are directly supporting important work while you enjoy yourself, this is the perfect place to come.

We couldn’t have been happier to find this place. There’s no green-washing here. This is the real deal, and we will be back.

This eco lodge was incredible! The beds were extremely comfy and there were lots of activities! You can go on an extremely interesting farm tour where are guide takes you on a tour around the rainforest showing you different animals, plants and fruit/spices to try! There was also a night hike where a guide takes you on a tour through the rainforest at night! We saw various animals such as: bullet ants, snakes, tree frogs and lots of types of interesting insects! We had a phenomenal stay and I would highly recommend you consider this place as you won't regret it!

I came here with 15 friends and 3 family bungalows accommodated us all. We loved
1) the farm fresh food at the restaurant. They had all sorts of delicious smoothies and juices made from ingredients harvested from the farm.
2) Free farm tour taught us a lot about the local eco system (it’s like a jungle tour with edible plants). There’s also a chocolate tour (they grow cacao and make chocolate on site)
3) 20+ sloths, many toucans, agoutis.
4) swimming pool and hot tub!
