If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. But you'll be missing the experience of a lifetime! The staff at Finca Luna Nueva (New Moon Farm) is warm, friendly, knowledgable, and dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Costa Rica. I just got back from one week there on a yoga retreat with a group of 21. The setting is beautiful. The pool and hot tub are immaculate. Food is basic but well prepared, well seasoned and healthful (not totally vegetarian: they serve fish and chicken as well). Everything is open air, so if you need air conditioning pick another place. We were there in June and it was humid and in the high 70's but all rooms had ceiling fans and we were comfortable. They have two marvelous massage therapists and the price is very reasonable. They also offer optional tours of their biodynamic farm and various trails. My favorite was the chocolate "tour" where we made hot pepper hot chocolate and our own 80% cacao chocolates. The cacao is grown right there.
I will be coming back with my husband in November.

Room Tip: The family bungalows are nice and offer two bedrooms and a main room with two additional beds.

Luna Nueva is a unique find! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! We were a group of 22 on a yoga retreat and they treated us like royalty! The food every night was really delicious, prepared with ingredients from their farm and local farms. The last night we had amazing homemade pizza in the pizza oven outdoors! YUMMY! The staff even LITERALLY carried our friend who hurt her knee up the stairs to her room!! Toucans flying around, huge frogs, terrific farm with fresh turmeric and ginger. Totally a gem in the jungle!!

Staff was terrific. Very helpful, knowledgable and friendly. Food just ok except for the pizza which was outrageous. Yoga trips here are very effective. Totally different environment...getting away from it all. Nearest town over 30 minutes away on mostly dirt roads. Tours and excursions were great. Great value overall.

Room Tip: Only 2 private bungalows which are nice but no AC and you can hear everything both good and scary. Sounds of torrential rains wake you up. Only a fan in room. A little warm and very humid. Water In shower not very hot but acceptable.

We recently spent a few super relaxing and fun days at Finca Luna Nueva and can recommend it to anyone who is looking for excellent food and service as well as an accommodating staff in a beautiful rain forest. We will definitely be going back, and soon! Ishmael gave us a wonderful tour of the organic and bio-dynamic farm and Christian was an awesome host. We enjoyed meeting Steven, who is in charge of the resort and everyone including kitchen and housekeeping staff were wonderful. The ozone cleaned pool and the jacuzzi were soothing and to top it all off, they even let us use the yoga room with its beautifully finished hardwood floor to dance ballroom dancing in the afternoon, surrounded by the wonderful sights and sounds of the forest... Unforgettable!

Room Tip: We stayed in a private bungalow and it was very nice.

If you love good food, beautiful flowers, and a rain forest experience this is a great place. We saw three toed sloth, three difference sized toucans and a lot more on one hike on the farm. Plenty to do and see. The lodge is near Fortuna and the hot springs.
Everyone is very helpful and friendly.
