I'm starting this review on the French Polynesian WiFi service which can be slow & weird at times; I will complete this review when I get home if necessary. Only one glitch today which our guide, Jerome handled well: the transmission on his truck went out between the hotel where my wife and I were staying and the tour boat. He called a cab snd the rest of the day went well: we swam/snorkeled with some deep water sharks and some shallow water sharks. We swam with rays in a lagoon; touched them too which was rather cool. We saw a group of melon-headed whales and one or two humpbacks. According to Jerome the melon-headed whales were following the humpback and so the humpback took some evasive maneuvers. Also saw a flying fish!
Jerome is French but and although there were 8=1- French speakers on the tour. He took time to come forward and talk to my wife and I (the only native English speakers on board). I had 5 years of high school French and I could tell that Jerome was telling them the same basic things that he told us.
Plenty of photo opportunities as we pursued the whales. He had to travel to the southwest side of the island, i.e. much of the circumference, to get to the whales in less heavy seas.
I'm very glad that the concierge at the Sofitel recommended Moorea Deep Blue!
I will add a photo later.
