“Incredible Food, Nice Breeze, Very Enjoyable”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Looking to break out of our resort to try some local places, we walked a couple of miles down the road to the Mayflower for lunch. It was a warm day, so we appreciated being seated near an open window. There was a nice breeze throughout our visit.

The meal started with some warm fresh bread which was exceptionally good. We ordered Shrimp Provencal and Lasagne with a side salad. The shrimp was some of the best we've ever had...Cooked perfectly with an exquisite sauce. Treat yourself by cutting the shrimp into very small pieces and savoring every bite. Lasagne seems like an odd dish to order on an island with excellent seafood, but I'm glad I did. The meat was ground to a fine consistency, and the sauce was perfect and probably made in-house. The lettuce and other vegetables on the salad were quite fresh.

The service was...relaxed. I wouldn't go there if you are in a hurry, but most folks on Moorea aren't in a particular rush, so just go and relax. It is a nice place for couples to be together, but would be fine for families as well.

As with all meals in French Polynesia, expect to pay about twice what you would in the U.S. Tipping is not expected.

If we return to Moorea we will visit the Mayflower again.

“Lovely service, upscale feel”

Our last night in Moorea was made more special by eating here. The friendly staff efficiently handled many tables and delivered some excellent food. The fish was exceptional. It was a good way to end our visit on the island

Best food ever on the whole Moorea Island; the team is very attentive to all your needs. Over the year they had remained integre. Kudo's

“Best Dinner on Moorea”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

My husband and I ate the grouper and sashimi and it was our favorite dinner during our time on Moorea. There is no hotel pick-up service, but we stayed at a pension nearby and they drove us. It is worth it. I had the sashimi, which was so fresh and well-cut, each piece melted in my mouth; and they don't skimp on the portions either! We liked this place much more than Rudy's. Hands down.

“Required Eating”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Ah, The Mayflower Restaurant was VERY good. Visited this romantic little place twice, and both times the food was superb. Had the filet, which was New Zealand beef, and it was phenomenal. My wife had the veal knuckle, which was incredible- the meat just fell off the bone. The lobster ravioli was spot on (They claim it as their specialty. It's a very good dish.)

The DUMPLINGS.., Oh my God, the shrimp dumplings are MUST.

Getting hungry.

Don't leave Moorea without trying this place. It's excellent.
