“Great pub, cold beer and pizza. What more do you want?”

Cold beer in a great old stone pub in a beautiful little town on the banks of the Murrumbidgee, just off the Hume highway. Traditional style pizza with hand made dough. So much room for kids to play outside.

“A good boutique beer”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Sit at the bar and be taken back in time. The beer is sensational and the pizza and paella are scrumptious bar snacks. Melissa has fantastic art work on display. Again, Jugiong has a lot to offer the would be traveller.

“Could be AMAZING, but isn't (yet)”
Reviewed April 28, 2012 via mobile

Visited this pub recently and was captivated by the age of the place- still in the same family after 120 years, great building, some historic material on the walls, lovely log fire.

But it is true they don't do boutique beers anymore, which is a pity because it would be the perfect spot to enjoy one. And there was not a great atmosphere when we called because there were not many people there (plus they were playing music I didn't like on their stereo- mercifully, there was no television- a star for that!) It is sad that fantastic old places have few customers while so many zoom along the Hume and stop at clones with no character and no history.

It's a conundrum. This place, with a big cash injection, could be magic. As it is, it is still worth a look. If we don't support these places they will disappear forever and the only pubs left will be filled with pokies and plasma TVs.

“Very disappointing”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

Checked out this gorgeous old pub out on the web, menu sounded great and was looking forward to tasting the boutique beers. Nothing on the web was accurate, no boutique beers and the food was poor to say the least. There was an open fire but no friendly atmosphere, such a shame, could be great.

“Gorgeous historic pub ambience with superb gourmet pizza's and boutique beer...yum yum”
Reviewed August 11, 2011

We had a great night out in this lovely old hotel. Served by the friendly owners we found a great lounge by the roaring open fire. The menu was simple comtemporary and the quality surprised us for such a tiny town. A real find! My young daughter was kept amused with colouring and chess and was well catered for. Being lovers of fine beer we tried the tasting paddle followed by a beer of choice which was a great idea. Fine brews and lots of fun.
A highly recommended stop between Sydney and Melbourne just a minute from the highway.
