“maybe good for organized surfing courses”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

TL;DR: I can imagine that one can enjoy this place with a fully organized tour where the agency books all dinners in advance and where transport to surf spots is taken care of, but for independent travelers this place only works when you just need a place to crash and take care of everything else yourself.

The good:

* friendly staff
* clean
* unbeatable price

The bad:

First, some comments on the description of this place:

"Located just a 5min drive from Taghazoute Beach"
Correct - and you'll need a car. The place is at the far southern end of Tamraght on a hill. When trying to get to the beach the direct way (down the hill, max 1km walking distance until your feet get wet), you have to cross the very busy road (speed limit at 80 km/h) on a spot where you cannot see much of the traffic and where you are almost invisible to cars.

"offers a terrace with panoramic views of the town and sea."
Yes, you see a lot of the town and even some sea. You just have to ignore the abandoned construction site directly in front of the hotel and the other constructions sites to the left and right of the "panoramic views".

"Free Wi-Fi access [...] provided in the apartment."
Wi-Fi only works at the reception and in the room directly above it.

"Featuring a kitchenette equipped with a fridge"
The kitchenette is a sink and a workplace, but nothing else (no stove or microwave, no kitchenware at all - not even a single glass).

And, besides those points, there are more that turn this place into a poor place to stay at:

* you have to pre-order even sandwiches ("I'll develop a spontaneous lust for a sandwich at 4:30pm today!" ???)

* breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10 on the roof-terrace - would be awesome if they had told me before the evening of day #2 - in the morning at 8:00 nobody was around at the reception or roof-terrace and I finally had my breakfast at restaurant "Mona" for 12 or 15 dirham. (who goes surfing this late anyway?

Room Tip: The higher, the better the "view", the lower, the better the wifi. Pick one.

Finding this place is difficult! It's not well signposted from the main road and the post itself on the main road says "Atlantica Hotel" and I wasn't sure if it was actually Atlantica Ifri or some other Atlantica hotel! Even worse was that the actual building was not signed as Atlantica Ifri!!! It's the only modern building on the road so you will notice it but what kind of business doesn't have the name of the hotel/B&B on the actual building!???

Parking was not a problem as it seemed like we were the only people there with their own car, the rest of the residents were part of a university group who came on a bus.

At first, all the rooms looked modern; flat screen tvs, DVD players, mini-kitchenettes, sofas, etc. but there were basic faults with the rooms... The sliding windows don't lock so if you're sharing a balcony with another room, you'll naturally be worried that your room will be raided while you're out. Especially if you're keeping valuables in your room as there is no safe in the room.

It seems like the owners and developers of the hotel looked at some modern European hotels and decided to copy that "look" for this place, but it just doesn't work because of basic mistakes. Don't get me wrong, the room looks lovely with these nice flat screen tvs and dvd players etc, but when you can't get hot water on demand, it's a problem!

-Bad location
-No hot water
-windows that don't lock
-electric shutters for the windows that shatter against the frame in the wind mean that you don't get any sleep at night because of the noise of the knocking shutters
-barking dogs in the street (I'm a heavy sleeper but even they woke me)
-questionable security (windows not locking so security issue if you're sharing a balcony with another bedroom)
-thin wooden doors that mean you can hear every conversation, knock and footstep on any floor due to the echo sounding in the landing
-microscopic bathrooms mean you can't shower without soaking the toilet and any toilet paper in the cubicle
-No toilet paper provided in the toilet (buy your own!)
-Lacking any basic hooks or shelves so you have no where to hang towels while showering
-Wardrobe doors which are 2 feet shorter than the actual wardrobe frame!!
-Wifi only accessible from the reception
-Don't accept credit card even though they state they do through booking websites
-Too far from Taghazout, you will need a car if you're staying here or rely on someone else to chaperone you

-Ample parking
-Nice breakfast
-Clean rooms, modern looking
-Helpful staff

THAT'S IT!!!!!

Would I stay here again? No
Would I recommend it? No
Don't get me wrong, I understand it's a cheap fare so you get what you pay for, but I travel a lot and I'm really not fussy at all about where I stay... but this place pushed it for me! Never again.

Room Tip: Ask to look at all available rooms they have, check the windows lock properly if you're sharing...
