We had loved this restaurant since it opened earlier this year, but unfortunately its popularity is its downfall. We booked a table (unusual for us, as there's so much choice restaurant-wise) on Saturday at 6pm. Started off okay, but when waiters were constantly checking our table, even trying to snatch plates away before finishing & trying to get us out within the hour (no offers of tea/coffee/desserts after the main course), I realised they're over-booking for a small restaurant. Sorry, but I won't be back - food served in local "Indian" restaurants is generally much the same - and now there's a plethora of them in practically every crack in the wall, so there's a lot of competition out there and this one has nothing different to offer.

I went to Masala Hut with my family to take advantage of the Tuesday evening 'Banquet Night', where popadums with really tasty dips, a starter and a main course with rice or nan for £10.95. There is a supplement for seafood, but the menu was extensive and we went for chicken and Tandoori options.

The service was good and quick and the food arrived hot. The serving dishes are deceptive and the portions do not look large - but do not be fooled. I almost ordered extra nan bread, but did not and was glad, although I have a very healthy appetite, We were not able to finish all of our food, although it was really lovely.

Drink prices are about normal, with a large 600ml beer at £4.00. As with any Indian food, to have the full meal on another evening would be quite pricey, but the Banquet Night is good value and we'll be back!

i have been to the masala hut take out on a number of occasions. the buttered chicken is excellent you want more. i usually go once a week just for this. the naan bread is also excellent. and the large chips are just that a large portion. we enjoy the food very much but when the waiters bring this to you, you feel as if they are pushing you out the door.they open the door hand you your take away and nearly push you out the door. they would be safer handing you the bag and letting you get your own way out.

A group of us visited Masala Hut recently and were very impressed. The staff were very attentive from the moment we entered the restaurant but unlike other reviewers I didn't find them over powering, after settling us at our table and taking a drinks order they allowed us enough time to relax and discuss the menu before they came to take our order. All the food was beautifully presented , hot and tasted delicious. The prices are very reasonable and it is licenced or you have the option to bring your own and pay the three pound corkage charge. it was very busy and people without reservations were being turned away so always best to book if you can. I would definitely return to Masala Hut and would recommend it to any one that enjoys Indian food.
