“Wonderful pub restaurant just under Tintern Abbey. Superb.”
Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

We went to this restaurant because our hotel restaurants were so poor and via a recommend. The setting is wonderful. Built from old building housing abbey cider press. Great thick stone walks. We went after dusk. You can see the abbey lit up from the garden room.

Went with 4 adults and 5 kids. Food superb. All excellent and service from waitress whose name I missed exceptional. Would definitely recommend. A find.

“good locally source food”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This pub's management has been taken over by a group representing the local community. The food's good and the staff are friendly. Go and try it! You wont be disappointed

“GOOD PUB - Majestic Location”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Situated under the shadow of the majestic Tintern Abbey the Anchor Inn is in prime position for the numerous visitors who travel from all over the UK and abroad to see the historic ruined Abbey. The Anchor also seems to have the concession on the immediate parking area (£3 fee) which is fully redeemable and as such further encouragement for visitors to use the Anchors facilities, that being said my experience of Anchor Inn at Tintern was excellent.
Food Very Good and excellent value for money, well stocked Bar with a comprehensive range of Local Beers and Ciders, and Accommodating cheerful staff. The Pub area is spacious and user friendly for families, and will allow well behaved dogs. All in all you couldn’t ask for more from a Pub/Restaurant that to some extent has a captive client base.
Is there a down side? - Not that I witnessed but I have a feeling that during the British summer this place could get extremely busy which would detract from the ability of staff to give an attentive service and maybe reduce the ability to offer all of the out of high season facilities.

“Fine food and great cider!”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Great service and excellent food for all, a varied menu with a great fish selection. Fantastic ciders but watch out for the old Rosie at 7% it creep upon you.

Made to feel welcome at all times, very friendly, but can be busy especially in summer. Very good for kids especially when the ice cream bar is open!! Local ice cream with lots of flavour!

“Very nice, food, location and decor. Price may need a rethink.”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Whether it's a day out lunch or a romantic evening, you would not go wrong at The Anchor.
I took my wife there for a meal a few weeks ago, the location is excellent, even at night.
The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful, we choose mainly the chefs specialties for starter and main, both dishes were of a very high standard, my only complaint, I was still hungry after both courses ! And all in all, paying over £60 for a meal for two and still felling hungry is not the best !
