Impeccable rooms and service from friendly helpful staff. Exceptional food in the restaurant with amazing views of the Tamar valley.. Highly recommended, with good proximity to National Trust properties, Padstow and other Cornwell attractions.

(Stayed overnight 02JUL08 in a garden room).

WiFi available in the main house but unfortunately not in the bedrooms as yet.

Recently had a one night stay here and were very pleased. Room (garden view) very nice with all you would need including a lovely bathroom. Lovely views although weather obscured most of them - very misty and wet when we stayed. (Area seems to have its own microclimate due to proximity to Dartmoor and is usually worse than elsewhere.) Dinner very nice - restaurant fairly formal in slightly old fashioned English Country House style but none the worse for that. Food excellent although it should be at the price. Staff are friendly with that professional edge that seems to be lacking so often these days. Breakfast superb - best full English I have probably ever had. Not too far from Tavistock (10 mins in car) which seemed nice place.
Good place to treat yourself but be prepared for a steep bill at the end.

the rooms are simply beautiful with fabulous views.

The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming.

My only negative comment was the breakfast - it was clearly cooked long before it was served - my eggs were hard and cold.

What a great place. This was recommended to me by someone else who loved it, and it did not disappoint. We stayed in a deluxe Garden Room which had a huge modern bathroom with bath and separate large shower and a great bedroom with huge bed. It was tastefully decorated in a modern style and had a balcony window looking down into an amazing country view.
We also booked dinner in their restaurant which was just as stunning. Staff were very experienced and knowledgeable, the floor to ceiling windows really show off the great views, and the food was exquisite. Even with a few bottles of wine and before and after drinks, the food only came to £150 which I felt was very cheap for the standard it was. Breakfast was also great - very local ingredients. Wholly recommended - just try and stay for a few days so you can enjoy the countryside as well.

We chose this hotel to get married at. Like the review below, we had looked at several places but nothing came close to here. Margaret, the wedding co-ordinator is very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble.

Our menu was tailor made by the Chef, Peter Gorton. We were able to sent menus out ot our guests and gave them a choice of 3 dishes for their startes and main course.

Our day ran so smoothly, everthing was pre-empted. We had exclusive use of the hotel and the bedrooms. We had the Orchard room which is beautiful, with the most stunning views.

I really cannot recommend this place enough. The combination of the beautiful house, the food, the views but most importantly, the staff make for a fantastic experience.
