If you want a place to relax in the peace and quiet of the Devon countryside this is the place to come. The site is uniquely situated at one end of Dartmoor as well as being on the border of Cornwall and is only about 45 minutes from beaches on the south coast and an hours drive from the north.
Woodovis doesn't have a bar or live entertainment which made it ideal for us having the peace instead of the hussle and bussle of modern living which we can catch up with at home. The swimming pool was great for our children, the only thing lacking I think was enough to keep older children going, although that does give time for the family.
Woodovis showed care from the begining by providing holiday ideas on their website, with local locations for whatever action you like on a holiday, you can access these on an easily accessible on site computer. That care showed in that they provided mattress toppers for the double bed in the caravan to help have a good nights sleep (a suggestion from one of their customers).
The static caravans are nicely located and not on top of each other, like other sites that resemble hen battery farming
Staff are always about but never in your face.
Good holiday that would have been excellent if we hadn't had the duff weather!
Came here on the good reviews we were not disappointed.

From the moment we arrived the whole experience of woodovis park was fantastic. The long drive entrance leads up to a secluded area where you find the reception, shop, bathroom block, laundry, play area and games room. We were pleasantly greeted and immediately made to feel welcome. The park is fantastic and the staff are amazing. We needed butter but when we went to the onsite shop they had sold out, the lady working thought she had some and returned a few moments later with some that she had earlier purchased for herself! I assumed they had a supply store and couldn't believe it but this is just how nice they all are at woodovis park. All of the staff here are just as amazing and always go that extra mile to ensure your stay is the best it could possibly be. It was never a chore for the staff and all were jolly and friendly. What a place. The park is in a great location with plymouth, bodmin, torquay and dartmoor all within easy reach and it is worth the drive if you are looking for anywhere in this area to stay. There is a great play area for children, a small indoor swimming pool, hot tub, infra red treatment room, outdoor table tennis and also archery and water walking organised on site.they are very conscience of the environment and also welcome dogs onsite, there is even a woodland walk with dog bins provided. We left feeling sad, because we truly did not want to leave. We would highly recommend this park and will definitely stay again. Just perfect, nothing more could have been done to make it any more enjoyable. Excellent in every way. I honestly cannot think of anything that was anything less than fantastic

We know the park well as we hired a static caravan last year, so were confident about using the campsite. Everything lived up to expectation: a warm welcome, wonderful facilities (especially for the children) and a peaceful, secure setting. Couldn't ask for more.
We had a pitch on the "top field" which is closest to the showers and washing facilities (V helpful when little children need a wee in the middle of the night!) Really appreciated the room with wash-up/laundry facilities so we could wash dishes in the dry, microwave a speedy meal and dry towels.
The showers were super - plenty of hot water, with a cold tap as well so you could moderate the heat for children - and were kept clean. When we had one day of poor weather, the wardens ensured that the wet floors were cleaned up promptly. (I would advise the park to buy a larger door mat as the current one is a little small. It didn't serve its purpose!)
One lovely aspect was the fresh bread baked daily. It was pricey, but delicious! Worth every penny. The children also loved the responsibility of fetching the bread and croissants every morning.
Our girls just loved having freedom to wander the site, which is perfectly secure, as everyone was so friendly. They made many friends so were able to occupy themselves, while mum and dad enjoyed a quiet drink - a novelty! The swimming pool is fantastic and beautifully laid-out. Good changing facilities too - transformed a wet morning into lovely family time.
The games room also has information - from suggestions on where to go to local weather forecasts. Thanks to the leaflets in the information room,we were able to find beaches that provided free parking to members of the National Trust. Brilliant!
Tavistock is a pretty little town, with plenty of good pubs and restaurants. For those wanting a break from cooking, we would recommend the Copper Penny (especially as it was only a short walk) and the Peter Tavy (car needed).
We visited beaches on the north and south coast and visited several National Trust properties, especially as they are providing fantastic experiences for children throughout the summer. (Elfric the Jester taught circus skills; bread making at Cotehele bakery and pond dipping for tadpoles and newts).
All in all we had a brilliant experience and plan to return.

Stayed here over the end of July and early August 2012, and it rained every day. Clearly nothing the site can do about the good old british summer weather, but it does provide a good test of any campsite. Trying to detach the 'weather factor', we (the family) thought this was a nice site. The young children thought it was excellent, with a great play area, games room and of course the swimming pool. Little touches like swimming certificates for your children if they achieve something new in the pool was lovely and made the kids day when we presented them with the certificates - great touch, keep it going :-) The information centre in the games room was top notch, especially the touchscreen - if you can get the weather forecast to tell us it was going to be sunny even if it wasn't true that would be a bonus ;-)
Toilets and showers - a test when the weather is poor - overall good. Never had to wait and the showers certainly had enough power. It is always nice to have the control of both hot and cold taps to get the temperature right for you - having it preset by the owners does frustrate me at times, so good point. Not sure of the benefit of the squeeges, not as effective as a mop, which was present but the water was very dirty - regular mop bucket changes of water during wet days would be a real benefit. Additionally, the mat in the entrance to the toilets/showers was too small when the weather is poor, would suggest considering replacing with a much larger mat to help collect the dirt, leaves and water.
All the staff we met were very friendly and a nice touch to use peoples first names, made you feel very welcomed.
Opportunities:
- too many static caravans to give a true camping and caravaning atmosphere. Apprecaite this brings in additional revenue and opens up the sites to those that don't camp, but it looses some of the camaraderie between true campers and caravaners.
- cost of the pitches in peak season. Had very high expectations, especially as we had booked a fully serviced pitch and unfortunately it didn't meet my high expectations. The TV reception for the main channels was ok, but it did freeze/lose signal on most of the other channels. The location of these pitches is not great, being along a line of tall trees that block out what little sun we had for most of the day. Finally, they are not the biggest pitches we have been on, struggling to get the car of the pitch with only a porch awning up. Also not the best WiFi coverage across the site.

Back to some good points - the games field was a good space, especially with the pentaque and table tennis areas. Good for playing football on and a good game of 'Nerfing' with the kids. The bubble pool was very warm and pleasant, the pool very clean. With regards to the pool, only criticism would be it was a little cool and 1.35M throughout. If you have young/short children, this can cause a problem, especailly if they are not strong swimmers, otherwise it was really nice - best avoided in the mornings when it appears to be at its busiest - at least when we were there.

Overall, a nice friendly site with enough to keep the young ones happy, if a little pricey and smallish pitches. Unsure if we would visit again, purely on cost only. Clearly a good few people do and we can see why, but with competition high in Devon/Cornwall I would suggest keeping costs competitive to be the key to this sites continued success.

My partner and i returned and stayed in the tipi this year and it was a totally amazing experience. Although the weather wasn't that great (good old english summer!) the little log fire kept us nice and toastie and the tent held up well against the wind and rain :D still didn't get chance to use the pool but the showers were 5*, really lovely power showers and nice new hair dryers. The woodovis team have updated the site really well. The pétanque and table tennis are great additions to the site and the freshly baked bread in the morning is a must. Stayed in the Pod last year, the Tipi this year and will definitely be back next year to try out our next tent. Can't wait :D thanks to the amazing team that always make us feel so welcome :D

My husband, myself and our two year old visited this site at the last minute for a week at the end of July this year. We are usually campers and had booked another site about 35 minutes away. Unfortunately due to the dreadful rain we decided against camping and looked for alternative accommodation. We are so so glad we did as we came across this wonderful place. Luckily we managed to get the very last static and were given a very good price for a Monday to Saturday stay. As others have said the facilities on this site are second to non. Everything is so clean and tidy and the staff are welcoming and friendly (our little boy even asked for a goodbye cuddle and they duly obliged) our static was spotless and very well equipped with everything we could have needed for our stay. We loved that there is no club house and no noise at night!! The pool area was really great and we loved going every morning before we went off on our travels. I agree with others who say it would be great if it was open till about 8pm but having read the owners response I totally understand why this is not possible. Although we didn't need the shower block we had a look anyway as we hope to return with the tent. It was all lovely and clean and the pump action hand wash and cream was a lovely touch. Our little boy loved the new play equipment and we all enjoyed the freshly baked produce. I did think that the price of a pain au chocolate at £1.90 was a little steep but that is a very minor point. We will certainly be back and have already given your brochure to family and friends. Your doing a fantastic job, congratulations and thank you for a lovely, relaxing break.
