Reviewed July 3, 2011

We have been staying at Woodovis for over ten years and the standard is always high.
The caravans are great and the location is central for touring both Cornwall and Dartmoor.
The shop, swimming pool and surroundings are great. Cannot be faulted.

Amazing park, lovely welcoming atmosphere from all the staff. Accommodation was absolutely spotless and well kitted out (Super Finch). Shop was really handy on site and the freshly made bread to order is a must!! Swimming pool and jacuzzi were an added bonus for such an intimate park. Dog walking area is great too, but dogs have to remain on leads at all times. Only 10minutes from main town and 15 minutes from Dartmoor. Tamar Valley walks only 5/10 minutes away - not for those that don't like walking up and down hills!! Tavistock market was also a great place with a lovely atmosphere to visit along with a lovely walk along the side of the canel. Oggy Oggy is a great place to grab a bite to eat (Pies and pasties were fab) and cupcakes and treats went down very well as gifts!! Always a lovely place to come back to - beds were comfy and it felt like home for the time we stayed! The present of fudge, tea, coffee, sugar and milk sachets on arrival was a wonderful touch after a long journey, even if the fudge didn't last very long!! Will defiantly be returning soon!

We've just got back home after a wonderful few days staying at Woodovis. We booked last year (2010) and got a great deal. Our party was ourselves - a couple with a large dog, along with a family of two adults and two children under five. We stayed in a static caravan with three bedrooms, a toilet and a shower room, along with lounge, dining area and kitchen.

As others have said, it's an ideal place to base yourself whilst visiting Devon, Cornwall and Dorset too. Woodovis is set in an absolutely beautiful spot with fantastic views.

The park itself is absolutely delightful - very clean and well thought out, with lovely gardens and plants everywhere which are all very well maintained. It truly is a very dog friendly location, which was important to us as we've been to other so called 'dog friendly' places, which so obviously aren't. There's a lovely nature trail where you can walk your dog and there are plenty of 'waste bins' to use when necessary. There are also hose pipes that you can use to wash down after a muddy walk.

The swimming pool is lovely, along with the spa whirlpool and the infrared room too. All very clean and tidy. There is a nice games room with pool table and other games, along with books and magazines to read if you wish. There's also a really helpful information point which you can use to look up all sorts from the weather to day trips out. Children are well catered for, with a nice play area.

There is WiFi available - it cost us only £16 for the week, which we thought was fine.

The public loo's and showers we found to be immaculate, clean, tidy and working as they should do.

Would thoroughly recommend trying the freshly baked bread, if you miss the shop opening time, you can pop a note through the door to order your bread for the next day - which is another really nice touch. On our arrival, we found cups and saucers all set up for tea with a lovely packet of local fudge - very nice indeed.

The Woodovis staff are extremely nice and friendly, they all obviously work hard in maintaining the park and it really shows. The whole place is very tranquil and relaxing.

Our caravan was very nice, clean and new looking. Whilst it was possibly a little small for all seven of us, that didn't remotely spoil our stay. We had a good sized cooker and fridge and the shower was great too. There was also a picnic table/bench outside the caravan to eat outdoors. The rooms all had lots of cupboards and storage options.

The site is around ten minutes drive to the local town of Tavistock, which has a regular market and lots of nice pubs and shops to visit.

Possibly the only very minor down side - which isn't remotely the fault of Woodovis, is there isn't a local pub at the moment. It seems the 'Chip Shop Inn' has closed and is up for sale. It'd be nice to take a walk there for dinner in the evening.

In all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Woodovis.

Stayed here in April 2010 and again in September 2010 because we enjoyed it so much. A close friend of mine goes on holiday to Norfolk every year and to the same park and i questioned him as to why and what the point was revisiting the same place year on year. Having stayed at Woodovis i now know why. All i ask when i go on holiday is that my unit is cleaned to a standard i expect, the park is well kept and quiet and that the staff are friendly and available if you need them. Woodovis and their team of dedicated staff do not disappoint. I have on numerous occasions driven for 5 or 6 hours from my home in Derbyshire to holiday parks in the West Country only to feel my heart sink when i arrived. At Woodovis you feel relieved. The staff are really passionate about their park and are only too happy to help. The caravans and park are impeccably kept and peace and quiet in the devonshire countryside is guaranteed. The only noise that you can hear at night is the bleating of the sheep which makes you really feel that you are in the countryside. The only slight negative was the temperature of the pool. I got in and it was like swimming in the north sea. Needless to say my young daughter just couldn't handle the cold. I found it really uncomfortable but managed a few lengths. Do not let that put you off taking a holiday here however, it is a hidden gem and i am hoping to go back again in september. Woodovis is a special place and i love it!

I was looking for a few days peace and quiet, to get away from it all and walk with my dog. I found everything I was looking for and more at Woodovis park. In particular as a lone female traveller, I felt safe and secure and was very impressed by the friendliness of all the staff. Highly recommend.
