We spent one night as a family at Brook Farm just to get out into the countryside to blow away the cobwebs. This is a great place to stay, with our three children (aged 4-6) enjoying the characterful nature of the house very much. There were some newly born lambs on site which also was a bonus! We stayed in two connecting family rooms, one of which has a quirky but extremely historic wooden beam running through the middle of it (you need to be flexible to bend under it...) and these rooms are located in a quiet end of the house. Excellent breakfast was provided too. If you want an authentic stay in an old country manor house this is the place to go. Mrs Butler is an excellent host and very good and friendly with the children. The surrounding countryside is very rural - Finchingfield is just a few minutes down the road and is a must see. Overall highly recommended.
