Pyrgos Hotel is touch of a bygone era. The Hotel was built as a mansion in 1916 and surrounding this hotel are other mansions of the same era. However, not all of them have been restored to its original grandeur. Your eyes are drawn to building because of its unique style i.e. the tower, in comparison to other mansions in the same vicinity.

You are not disappointed from the sweeping curve stairs leading up to the main entrance of the hotel and entering into the foyer. Once in the foyer your eyes are transfixed by the grandeur of the room and the high ceilings with ornate caricatures of the cornices. The furniture compliments the ground floor rooms perfectly.

The charm continues throughout all the rooms at the hotel. Each room is an experience in itself in style. The rooms are clean and tidy and the service by the staff was excellent. The staff go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your experience staying at this unique hotel. And the buffer style breakfast was very good!

However, there is no lift in the hotel, which is understandable given that the building is nearly 100 years old. So carrying a large bag upstairs is a bit of an effort, but well worth it.

The hotel is 10-15 minute walk from the centre of town and port.

It is definitely worth staying at this old world hotel.

A traditional tower (pyrgos in Greek) is transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel. The room for 3 people was spacious and luxurious, the staff is very friendly and helpful (the real essence of greek hospitality) and is located near the port of Mytilene. One of the best hotel experiences I had.

The hotel is a fantastic tower fully restored!!! It takes you back to times of queens and kings!!! The junior suite was excellent! The colours of the room, the furniture and the whole atmosphere just great! The only bad thing: at those days they didnt have elevators!!! But my wife loved it so who cares?

I stayed here for three nights while on Lesvos. The staff we met there, Pinelopi and Christine, were the friendliest we met in Greece. Every morning they had a kind greeting and a big smile, and the same when we returned late at night.

The room we got was huge, enough to fit a couple of king beds if you wanted. It was clean, quiet and cleverly decorated.

Best of all, late on my last day on the Island, like the moron that I am, I left my wallet at a taverna some 90 minutes away - with a ferry to catch in less than an hour! Explaining my predicament, Pinelopi was awesome, first tracking down the small taverna I had been to (I couldn't recall the name, only the location) and then offering to drive out the next day to retrieve my wallet and courier it to me. All above and beyond the call of duty.

I recommend this hotel without hesitation.

We were in Lesvos for 6 nights and loved the hotel & the staff, Katarina & Penelope were just brilliant. Breakfast was great. Only downfall I could find is that there is no swimming pool. Didn't matter too much early June but if you were there mid summer you really want to have a swimming pool. Overall great place though

Room Tip: Rooms at back of hotel less road noise. Traffic noise not a problem it was the garbage men at midnig...

We wanted to see more of Mytilene before heading for our final destination on Lesvos, so booked two nights at the Pyrgos. It is just a 5/10 minute taxi drive from the airport, and an easy 15 minute walk to the town centre. We were delighted with the hotel service, and the charm of this beautiful old building. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable (we were very fortunate to be given room 304, at the top of the tower). The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast is superb - a huge selection, fresh and tasty. We would not hesitate before booking the Pyrgos again, and recommend it without hesitation.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
"PYRGOS OF MYTILENE" BOUTIQUE HOTEL/MANSION. "PYRGOS OF MYTILENE" is a real jewel, one of a kind, as nothing similar can be found in Lesvos. Our boutique hotel was built in 1916 by the Architect Ignatios Vafiadis in the style of Second Empire. In 1995 the building was renovated in respect of its history and from August 1999 operates as a luxurious hotel all year around. PYRGOS OF MYTILENE is situated in the town of Mytilene where most of the mansions exist in the area, 200 meters from the new Marina. The significant exterior staircase constructed from white marble leads us to the main entrance, flanked by two aristocratic columns and eventually culminates at the highest point in the small tower. The interior seduces with its luxury, including decorations and furnishing from the period of Louis XVI. Every room creates its own unique atmosphere with discreet and soft coloring. The overall, romantic atmosphere takes you back to the 19th century, creating a feeling of living in the area. The three floors, which are connected with an imposed wooden staircase (there is no lift), leads to the luxurious 12 rooms, with assorted views of the garden, city or sea. Home comforts are not lacking as every room has air-condition, satellite TV, telephone, mini-bar, bathroom with hair-dryer, bathroom amenities, wireless Internet, safe-box and 24-hour room-service. The hotel offers a parking area for your convenience and Business Facilities (Fax, Internet, E-mail). Reception and Bar are open 24 hours per day. As soon as you enter the hotel a warm reception area greets you. In the living room or at the bar you can enjoy refreshments, while your Breakfast, American type Buffet with local delicacies, is served in the Breakfast room or outside on the terrace, where you can enjoy an enchanting view of the houses and the sea. The friendly environment and wonderful service offered by extremely efficient personnel create a warm and friendly atmosphere and will in sure make an unforgettable stay.
