“Comfortable and Friendly.”
Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights for a quiet break. We stayed in room 6 which was very clean and tidy with a 4 poster bed. The service we received throughout the stay was always very friendly and were always met with a smile. The downstairs pub is nice and comfy with plenty of places to sit where you can enjoy a nice pint of Ale.

The location is quiet with only a few pubs and shops, however this is expected if you're after peace and quiet.

The prices of the food and drink were a tad steep for me, however you can find cheaper places within the village.

Overall, nice and pleasant stay.

After a day on the Lake nipped in here for a pint . The lager was flat (Lakeland lager) and the cider even flatter. On mentioning it the lady responded by saying she'd changed the gas and didn't know what the problem was ..... then walked off. The Barnsley chops did however smell lovely

We were staying just up the road over Easter and had 2 meals in this pub.

Very enjoyable, relaxing and good value for money.

My husband tried the 2 veggie options on the menu and said both very enjoyable. I had gammon and chips and broad beans, and fillets of seabass with fresh veg - the seabass was very tasty and I did have alot of fish !

The pub did get busy as it was Easter week but we prebooked our table on both nights and were not kept waiting on both occasions.

The staff were friendly, attentive and happy to help in anyway.

All in all, an enjoyable experience with a nice atomsphere, traditional pub with open fire and reasonalby priced for traditional pub grub.

I would recommend this to the others in your are in the area.

Just got back from a fantastic midweek break at the Pooley Bridge inn, stayed there with my husband and dog Ebony, from walking through the door all the staff were so welcoming and friendly, we was going to eat there for the first night then try the other local pubs for the following 3 nights we were in Pooley Bridge but the food on the first night was so fantastic we ate there every evening, we booked a table and was able to enjoy a few tea time drinks on the sofas. They was launching their new menu on the Friday after we left and we saw the menu and was jealous it wasn't out while we were there even though the choices on the menu we had was great, they did give us the chance sample the new menu which we did and we weren't disappointed! The black pudding scotch egg was AMAZING, my husbands words were the best thing he has ever had, and the meat platter and lamb chops were divine, we were just disappointed that we had no room to try any puddings during our stay but we were so full! the menu we had during our first few days there was great also especially the black pudding starter, they make their own black pudding and I have never tasted anything so good, we also had the Cumbrian tattie pot, burger and a few from the specials board and everything we had from the sandwich when we arrived to the breakfasts to the main meals was of outstanding quality and served by the pleasant staff, there is a good selection of ales, lagers, ciders and wines our room was nice and large with a double bed and sofa with decked balcony area. It was cleaned everyday and was very comfortable, we are already looking forward to returning to the Pooley Bridge inn in September this year and we can hopefully go on the Ullswater steamer, it was too windy during this visit. Keep up the good work and we WILL see you soon.

Wonderful pub, welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere. Best fish cakes I have ever had and the best roast turkey, beef and lamb roast on Easter Sunday, Could not fault the service or the quality cuisine. Ten out of ten. We will be back!

Popped in for a drink after a long walk - enjoyed the open fires and the comfy sofas. Menu looked good and average prices although didn't stay for food, plenty of other people eating though and meal sizes looked huge. Good range of beers and prices very reasonable.

The staff were welcoming and friendly The rooms were lovely and clean and we were given a family room so we had plenty of room for the 2 of us plus the dog. An ideal location for walking and seeing the lakes. We eat at the Inn both nights and tasted 4 different main courses, all were well presented and good quality food, tip don't order chips with your sandwich unless you are starving! We felt very welcome with Poppy our dog and would happily return.
