“GORGEOUSLY, SCRUMPTIOUSLY, DROOLINGLY PERFECT !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2014

We were starving when we parked in Pooley Bridge a few days ago and because we had read great things about this place we headed in !
Firstly, the staff welcomed us in in a genuinely friendly way and showed us to a table where we chose the Meat And Potato Pie !
Let me tell you, you won't eat a better, more satisfying and filling main course ANYWHERE !
Stuffed, I then forced the most delicious Bread And Butter Pudding down as well !
We staggered out for a walk along the Lake before going home and eating nothing more for ten hours !
Except for Shirley who I'd bought a slice of their Lemon Drizzle Cake !
She didn't eat all of the heavenly thing as she reluctantly allowed me three minute end of the teaspoon tastes !
YUM YUM YUM GRANNY DOWBEKINS !

“Lunch stop on big bike ride - cycle friendly !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

4 of us stooped for a quick "refuel" yesterday whilst on a big bike ride between the challenges of Kirkstone pass and Shap.

We were not the only cyclists there and felt welcomed despite being a little hot + sweaty !

There was a good space at the back for putting several bikes reasonably securely. The outside area of the tea room was being redeveloped so a bit of building work at the back plus the only loo was a portaloo but this was explained to us and was perfectly adequate (and understandable whilst the renovations were going on).

the interior decor and furniture is high quality and clean.

One of our group commented that sandwiches were on the pricey side (£5-6) depending on filling and bread or sub roll. However when our Sub roll club sandwiches arrived we were not disappointed - huge, really well filled with great quality meats and salad plus a small side portion of salad and coleslaw.

The manager also helped us with directions and re-filled our water bottles

“Great find”

Very friendly service at a good price. Shame the toilet was a portaloo in the back garden - not good for the less than mobile old folk! But nevertheless we'll worth a visit.

Thanks for your review, we are really pleased you had a good time. We are building two new toilets including a flat level access wheelchair firendly loo which will be ready before the end of April, so that will be much better for the less mobile and elderly.

“A pleasant place to eat.”

Had lunch here, the renovations are very good and in keeping with the character of the building, work is still ongoing. The food was good value for money, and the service excellent.
