We've been self-catering for 25+ years. Not cheaply - English Country Cottages, Ecosse Unique and so on. We've never been anywhere that's provided such a high level of services - bread, butter, milk, coffee, tea etc all waiting for us. The fire was laid for us every day when we were out - a very pleasant surprise. Extremely comfortable cottage (Hedgehog). Peaceful location and a short walk from a pub (Fox & Goose) with excellent beer and food. Thank you very much to Carol and Ken for making a much needed break so relaxing.

I stayed in Dormouse cottage, sleeps 5 very comfortably. Décor is excellent and high standard. Cottage is very well equipped, warm and homely. Beautiful small village with breathtaking scenery... walkers dream. Very near Alton Towers, 10 minutes by car, yet no traffic using the village. Mr. & Mrs. Lockwood are by far the nicest hosts, very helpful and generous. The extra touches made our stay perfect. Highly recommend for a quiet break, couples, and families! Couldn't believe this sanctuary is so near the madness of Alton Towers! I will definitely return.

I recently stayed here with my family including two 2 year olds. We were taking a trip to Alton Towers and wanted somewhere we could put the children down of an evening and still be able to have time to chill out as a family. I located Rockhouse Farm Cottages and so glad I did. The cost was shared between the 2 familes and would be the same as 3 nights in a budget hotel.

On arrival we met Carol and Ken who were both more than happy to help with any requests we made. There was tea, coffee, bread and milk supplied on arrival. We were so impressed with the rooms. The phots on the website didn't do it justice. The cottage was clean and warm and felt very homely. The kitchen was fully equipped, I could have even baked a cake! They had even provide plates and cups just for the children, toys in their room, videos for them. Everythin was covered.

They were as stated only 10 mins away from Alton Towers which was great.

Overall we will definately stay there again and thank Carol and Ken for their hospitality.

The cottages which are converted barns are beautiful from the outside and well decorated inside. There was ample space for ourselves and 3 children and we had other family members staying in the cottage beside us the same week.
The area itself was rural yet only 10 minutes to alton towers, 20 minutes into Stoke, (waterworld/cinema/shopping)etc. Over the course of the week we had the thrill of Alton Towers, splashing around at waterworld, relaxing walks in the countryside, tobogganing in real snow at the snow dome, bike rides in the Peak District and exploring many quant villagesalong the way.

All in all this is a fantastic destination with a wide range of activities to fill your time and the rock cottages in foxt are a great place to base yourself. The owners were more than helpful anytime we needed anything or asking advice. Top marks from me, just a pity we were only there a week.

Went for 2 nights in October 08 and went to Alton Towers first and then drove to Rockhouse from there, it was easy enough to find. We stayed in Dormouse Cottage and it was lovely. Very clean, nice decor, hosts were very welcoming and the homemade cake was a lovely touch, very yummy! The village of Foxt is lovely. The pub across the road serves lovely food and has a nice atmosphere but the cottage has amply utilties if you want to stay in and cook dinner. Plenty of pots and pans, crockery, glasses etc.
The cottage really has everything you need for a short or long stay. We'll definitely be going back and hopefully staying for longer next time. Great value for money when you compare to the likes of the Alton Towers hotels and even some B+B's nearby.

we stayed over for 2 nights with a group of 10 friends as we were visiting alton towers. We researched many cottages in the area but nothing was like Rock House Farm. It was definitely a lot more expensive but well worth money spent. We stayed at the Badger and Dormouse for 10 adults and more than enough rooms and space to cater a big group. The Badger was definitely more modern, airy and bright. The two double bedrooms incl ensuite was beautiful, also the huge living area and kitchen on the top floor. The dormouse was smaller and had more of a traditional deco. When we arrived, we were greeted by Carol who showed us around and also left us bread, milk and fruit loaf for us which was very nice.
Theres BBQ facilities but you have to use portable trays but the view and space available on top of the mountain/hill is amazing.
Nearest supermarket is approx 25mins drive so bringing enough food in advance is advisable. 20mins away from Alton Towers so very convenient.

Everyone enjoyed their stay at Rock House Farm and would definitely return if we visit in the future.
