“A lovely place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

I have stayed here on two different occassions, it´s just a place you want to come back to! The scenery is amazing, the views are just breathtaking. If you´re a fan of photography you´ll definitely be occupied. They feed the wild parrots by the bbq area and sometimes there were up to 10 colorful birds munching away just beside you. We went on daytrips and saw Toorongo falls, the rainforest and Ada Tree, Noojee Trestle Bridge and we were exploring the forests and wading in the river.
One day we just went up the hill, a five min walk, and had a picknick with a view over green hills, farmland and forest that just went on forever.

Last time we stayed in Coach House cottage - it has the best view and the ac is super, which was really nice in this hot weather. There´s a really cosy livingroom area and the bathroom and kitchen were clean and well equipped. We also made use of the huge spa bath after the long days out. I loved waking up to birds singing and a view of the stunning white roses outside. It´s so romantic and quaint and it beats a hotel stay in the city any day!

Me and my girlfriend stayed a long weekend here a couple of weeks ago in the chestnut and it was just everything we wanted and needed. It is not too far out of the city and it is right on the doorstep of some beautiful scenery and some great sights. Toorongo falls being one of these and a must see. Then the cottage itself was well furnished and very clean, air conditioning was great as it was very hot whilst we were there. We were also impressed with the spa bath in the bathroom as well as the Jacuzzi that is available to use outside. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a very lovely experience.

Room Tip: The chestnut is a quiet cottage with nice views.

As mentioned by another reviewer, I found the property disappointing. Lack of attention to detail within the building. Lights with blown globes, electrical cable running across a room to provide light (not only illegal, but unsafe), internal walls that you could see light through.Overall not impressive for the price they charge.

Booked two nights in the Chestnut cottage over the Christmas period for 2 adults and 2 kids and were so unimpressed we left after the first night. The area and property are not entirely without charm, but attention to detail and comfort was sorely lacking. We found a child's underwear in the wallbed; there was only one remote control for the air conditioner for two adjacent cottages, so the staff member who was occupying the neighbouring cottage kept coming over to borrow the remote (and didn't bother returning it); the air conditioning didn't seem to work, turning off randomly; the outdoor swim spa was full of leaves and we were told it doesn't heat up well anyway; the window shade on the second story window only went halfway up, obscuring the advertised stunning views from the loft bedroom; the owners' dogs, while friendly, spent most of the day at our front door begging for food (and the door blend only extended 2/3 of the way down the door); etc etc etc. Not recommended until management begins to put some effort into the guest experience.

We stayed in the Coachhouse spa cottage. We were 4 adults and my son who was celebrating his 2nd birthday. It was a nice experience. We had informed ahead about the occasion and the staff was very accomodating. A neat cottage with clean upholstery and interiors. They have a farm which houses sheep and alpacas and that kept my little one busy. There is a nursery not very far from our cottage and we actually didn't have time to go and have a look at the plants in there so I can't write much about it.

We ran the Spa on the last night of the stay and it was a luxurious experience. While we went to Mount Baw Baw in the daytime, the staff was accomodating enough to decorate the entire place with streamers and balloons that I had handed them before hand. It felt like a home away from home. The owners have a couple of dogs and they are very friendly. There were options of BBQ outside the house but the smell does entice the doggies.

Awesome Views in the early morning for those who love to photograph nature. I would recommend this place to everyone who would like a retreat or a weekend of peace away from the chaos of the city. It's very peaceful. Don't expect a 5* hotel experience because that's not what you will get here. It's quaint and rustic and there lies its own charm.

We stayed here for two nights and were so impressed with what we found.
We stayed in Mudbrick Cottage which was veery clean with a double bedroom downstairs, two double beds upstairs, a very clean modern kitchen and bathroom and a great wood heater.
The cottage struck the right balance between keeping the historic nature of the building and modern facilities.
There is also a large hot tub spa, trout fishing and great walks.

The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

The location which is close to the tressle bridge, neejoo waterfall and the renowned Toolshed restaurant.
Had a very relaxing stay here and we would recommend you to check it out.
