The fact that we were staying here was 60% charm of our trip. we were travelling with a very senior citizen, a 6 month old baby and a dog. It couldn't have been more difficult but the extremely friendly and accommodating staff made it possible.
Beach is lovely, clean and literally a stones throw away, so is the temple. You have ample parking space and the cottages are absolutely lovely. While i would say that the food was to die for, but it wasnt bad either.

One catch is that there is no room service and the electricity fluctuates so even with the inverter, ac may not be available. this was a problem only since we went in april The owner was nice enough to give us an extra fan for the baby. They also allowed me to boil water for my baby and cook her food in their kitchen which btw, is extremely clean just as the rooms.

Room Tip: Cottage rooms are without doubt the best! no fitness center/pool

Visited Harihareshwar over the weekend. It’s about 200 km from Mumbai and takes a 5-6 hr drive to reach. You need to drive along the Mumbai-Goa highway and take a right turn at Mangaon from where the route is simple, although the road is quite narrow at some of the stretches. Please stick to the Mumbai-Goa highway and ask people if you feel you’ve diverted. We had taken a diversion and lost time and an extra 30 km !

Once in Harihareshwar, we first checked the no. 1 rated hotel. The location wasn’t great being at least half a km from the beach. The deluxe room was sub-standard. The suites looked great but considering the location and property we decided to check other options. Then drove down to the Harihareshwar Beach Resort which is right on the beach and next to the temple.

The cottages here were quite good. The room was spacious with an extra bed. There was no cupboard though, so we used the extra bed for keeping our stuff :-) As a minor point, there was a geyser in the bathroom which was missing in the previous hotel where you get hot water only during specified hours. There is also a dedicated parking slot with each cottage which gives a good feel!!

A major issue with this resort is that there is no room service! Strange but true! But they’ve mentioned it right at the reception wall so you know it in advance. So obviously there is no intercom. My suggestion would be to carefully inspect the room immediately on check-in. Check all necessities – towels, soaps, TV, AC, fan, lights, linen, water, etc. If there is any problem with anything they’ll sort it out. Otherwise, you’ll need to run to the reception for each problem and farther your room from the reception, more trouble it’ll be for you!

If you don’t set high expectations, food is decent. Not great but not bad either. They also have a menu card now :-) which apparently was not their earlier (as per some old reviews).
Btw, tried to go to the MTDC resort for dinner (8 pm) based on a previous reviewer’s recommendation. The location is way up the hill. Maybe a km from the beach. The approach road is horrible and the place quite spooky. Once there, the restaurant looked deserted, though obviously people were there in the rooms. Seeing the condition, we realized that our resort was much better and returned back immediately.

As far as things to do in Harihareshwar is concerned, there is nothing much to do apart from visiting the temple and the beach. There is a water scooter and a banana boat. Didn’t try them but there were other people who did. Btw, please use the back side of the resort for entering the beach, the front side requires you to wade through muddy water.

If time permits, please visit the other 2 beaches Shrivardhan (20 km) and Diveagar (45 km). They are bigger, cleaner and better. Harihareshwar beach was the worst of the lot but more commercialised. If possible you may also stay at Divyegar where lots of hotels/resorts seemed to have mushroomed. Though don’t have any idea about their quality but pricing wise they ought to be cheaper.
Overall, Harihareshwar is a nice weekend getaway. One can stay a night or two based on convenience. If I ever stay in Harihareshwar again would I stay at the same resort? Definitely yes!.

We stayed overnight at this hotel just to pray at the temple. It is at a very convenient location just 100 metres from the beach and temple gate. Its cottages are fairly comfortable and give some privacy, but they are not close enough to the hotel building in case you need something at odd times. There were too few people in the staff to look after all the jobs, and we felt that this would be a big problem when the hotel got crowded. The food was simple, fresh and tasty. The manager is friendly and keen make you comfortable. Overall, we felt that it's a good bargain for a short stay.

Room Tip: If you need privacy, cottages are the better choice.

My friends and me just spend one night there but we fully enjoyed it.
The rooms were ok (Indian standard). Service was first a little bit slow but as more we ordered as faster and better they got.
Service team and I think it was the manager (or boss) were really friendly all the time.

Two little things to improve:
-they should clean the garden furniture at the terrace more often
- they should built a little stair to reach the sea front

Though many reviewers had indicated unhappiness at the type and cleanliness of rooms and substandard food in their restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised that nothing of that is a fact. The cottages were clean with clean linen, the location right on the beach edge and the food prepared on order of real good taste. We had asked for fresh sea food and were given Pomfret curry that was prepared well and tasted fresh and nice and more extra curry with rice and surprisingly even the charges for full Pomfret curry was Rs 200 which is definitely very reasonable.
I would definitely recommend this resort as this is the only well maintained and well serviced in Shrivardhan.
