Returned to the Lagg Hotel for lunch. Impeccable service, dog friendly, good food and pleasant atmosphere. Well worth the drive from Brodick.where we were staying. The fact that they allow our big German Shepherd Dog to join us in the conservatory is great, as he hates being left in the car. Maybe a bit out of the way but I am sure many guests return again and again to enjoythe service and food in this hideaway hotel..

I had stayed on Arran many times and passed the Lagg promising myself I would stay there as it looked gorgeous. This time I did and it was! It was so welcoming the open fire in the lounge was just what was needed and it was so nice to feel at home chatting to other guests in the comfortable atmosphere the other guests added to the atmosphere they were all so nice! The staff cant do enough to help and it is very well run. The food was some of the best we had tasted on our road trip this time in Scotland. The rooms were very comfortable and bathrooms good. My clients saw red squirrels in the garden over breakfast.

We stayed at the lagg on our honeymoon the staff were both hepful friendly and had an excellant system in place with leaving keys behind so that should you get lost hill walking they know are not back.

the hotel feels more like a family home than a hotel and is set in a quiet but charming part of the island. The food is good and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place.

We had 2 rooms here in late August 2012 and enjoyed our stay. The rooms could do with a little refreshing but are otherwise very comfortable with large bathrooms. The food and service were very good. The staff are very polite, friendly and coped very well with a busy restaurant in the evening. Breakfast was also excellent. It's true there are 2 eating areas and both are utilized depending on the volume of customers The dining room is generally used in the evening only when busy but I don't see that as an issue as the bar is a nice place to eat dinner also. The location is a little isolated if you wish to eat elsewhere but this was not a problem for us as we enjoyed the food and menu choices. Highly recommend.

Peter and Mary indeed made a difference! I like the Homely, Nice and cosy feeling. Love the Scottish print carpets. I got the room facing the garden and river. Nice to open the windows and listen to the birds and flow of water from the river. Very countryside .

On a recent trip to Arran I visited the hotel which I had always wanted to do for some years, however my expectations were greater than the experience having taken the time out to book a table for a meal we ended up sitting in the bar area not the best but fairly acceptable until the local tourettes champion arrived not pleasant with elderly people in the company. The food in my opinion was variable to poor with the Cullen Skink a far cry from what is the norm the piece de resistance with regard to food was the Steak Pie with Tomato Puree added for good effect??? not recommended for migraine sufferers. The attitude from the staff regarding the unique recipe was to suggest that in future it may be advisable to declare any allergies prior to ordering any food fair comment if you expect Tomatoes in your Steak Pie. All round a disappointing experience.
