Have stayed 4 days at The Lagg Inn Arran , very friendly staff ,good clean room , bathroom needed attention of eg; hand grips on tiles at bath .very deep bath ,not so easy if you were not so fit , food excellant ,would certainly return if back on Island

Room Tip: not pick room above small dining room as if late diners noise does travel up if busy ,

Stayed there in June, lovely setting. friendly staff, way above average food but room was very average and a bit dated, overall good value and would recommend it to anyone. The bonus for me was the owner is a serious petrol head, had some great chats about the supercars he's owned.

We recently stayed at this hotel on our motorbiking tour of Scotland. Could have spent longer had our schedule allowed it. Staff very welcoming and helpful. The rooms very comfortable and clean. Food excellent. Would definately recommend this hotel, and stay again on our next trip to Scotland.

Food lovely . Gardens lovely. Rooms very tired, mould in shower . Elderly lady without sense of smell could have been badly injured due to plastic casing holding a bulb burning ...stank room out and no other room offered- just as well she had no sense of smell. Spent a lot of money food wine etc in bar. We went in bar to relax with papers from 1600, spending money and ate at 1830 ..to be asked to move in to sitting room to let others have table .. Staff shotrages forced them to shut dining room..appalling considering we were never in sitting room as it's antiquated with nothing to do .. Unless you played piano ... The worst bit of our stay was that we were not advised that there was no mobile phone signal .. I could go on with more negatives - no hot choc in room , no sweetex , no decaf coffee, all full fat milk , including at breakfast , butter offered but no healthy alternative.. Think they had better think these things through as they are most important in 2012 !!! Peter could do with brushing up on his social skills and hospitality skills .. All other staff and his dad were a pleasure may I add ... Peter take a leaf out there book mate and you might just get more regulars with passing trade !!!

We enjoyed a very relaxed evening at the Lagg Hotel with friendly staff helping us with our beer and whisky choices. Loved the fact that so much of the food and drink were locally sourced - and Gerald and Peter were knowledgeable and lively company. They make a good double act behind the bar. We also enjoyed talking to Peter the next morning about cars! The bedroom was very comfortable and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was homely and welcoming. Having a lovely landscaped garden leading down to the river added to this aura of calm and relaxation. And we were very excited to come across a golden eagle on the path while taking a short walk to the Celtic burial ground. A great place to spend a couple of days; only sad that we were there for just one!

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the garden and river which was lovely.

Our fifth night on the Arran coastal path and our best night yet. The Lagg Hotel is a charming country hotel, the owner and staff extremely attentive and helpful. The room was clean and had all the little touches that make you feel welcome. The public rooms were relaxing and contained up to date magazines. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal, served in the bar (our choice) the menu was varied and reasonably priced. Breakfast the next morning was spot on, the fresh fruit salad particularly worth a mention; this was followed by the guilty pleasure of a full Scottish fry up.
A most enjoyable stay with nothing we could fault or want to change.
