Quiet and Pleasant place an hour outside the friendly city, food to die for and a place you can relax next the pool under the african sun and very safe and secure.
Top class 'mud huts' that add to the typical african style of housing with a modern twist in terms of the aircon for those extremely hot days and a bed as soft as a cloud itself.

We spent 2 nights here, made very welcome on arrival. Our accommodation was very comfortable and everything we needed. even a plug converter provided.
The food for breakfast and dinner both days was exceptional, Elvis(head chef) was a truely great chef and a real character.
We did the early morning river cruise, which was very memorable, seeing varios wild life, such as Kingfishers, Fish Eagle, monkeys, fish and many other birds. Our young guide was very knowledgable and made the trip fun !
With the same guide we did a half day at Addo Elephant Reserve , a truely stunning experiance.
The overall stay at Chrislin was fabulous and priced very competitively.

I'm writing this from the peaceful grounds of Chrislin. You'll love it here. The whole place is really creatively decorated, the rooms are beautiful, the service impeccable, the food scrumptious! Also, the family that runs this place is warm, friendly and good fun!

Finding the right place to stay when visiting Addo was tricky with a number of places having mixed reviews, so we were very pleased that we picked Chrislin. A nice quiet retreat with clean spacious mud huts to stay in. Don't worry about the mud hut idea, they are great places to stay, cool and we encountered no mosquito problems, which we thought we might. There is the option of a meal at the site which we had one night, tasty if a little expensive, but saves driving into town. They run safari tours in Addo through CrissCross tours and our half day afternoon trip was great. We were the only ones so had the tour to ourselves and our guide was brilliant. Well worth doing a trip rather than trying to drive yourselves around the park.

We spent 2 nights at Chrislin. The place, the rooms, the pool, the garden were very nice and quite. We had dinner at the Chrislin restaurant. We were suprised by the price for a 3 course-dinner (starter = a salad, dessert= a pudding): R220 p.p.; that is about 50% over average price. Even Franschhoek restaurants were not so expensive.

We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, but are sorry to read that you thought that our dinner was too expensive. We most certainly value your opinion and regard it highly.

We've always felt that we offer good value for money, considering that all our food is prepared daily on site by our skilled chef and served passionately by all our staff. We always only use the freshest, and best of ingredients in all our preparation. Our main course is usually a braai with 3 different meats, or fillet steak or a venison buffet, and a variety of vegetables, all of which one would pay at least about R130 in a restaurant, and in addition we serve a starter, which is always accompanied with homemade bread and to finish it off, a homemade desert, the value of both together being about R90.

Guests are also not obliged to eat at our lodge as there are other restaurants in the area which are highlighted at check in, we just want to give our guests the opportunity to experience an authentic South African meal, in a beautiful setting, with the convenience of not having to drive and an opportunity to sample some of our high quality South African Wines. The fact that we do most often serve meals to only a small group of people provides our guests with a
more exclusive experience, but it is costly for us for us to offer this and therefore, we can't charge much less than what we do. But fortunately, thus far, the feedback from the majority of our guests have been very happy with the quality of our meal and the price that they paid.
