Had a wonderful afternoon in the spa with 3 friends. Were able to make an short notice reservation (in the morning for the afternoon). The therapists were very friendly and professional. Treatments were well done and we left completely relaxed.

One of the best places I have been to so far and I travel a lot.
Absolutely friendly and professional staff. Very good kitchen, although just one meal (with choice of two main courses) per dinner. One day the main was not to perfection, which may be related to a power outage that evening. The chief made it up the next day with a very good filet. Kitchen is however not gourmet but very good.
Atmosphere ist fantastic, little condos with a lot of privacy. Good price/value ratio.
And in many ways they go this little extra mile to make the stay perfect.
Don't expect a five star kitchen or bar but you will get a six star friendliness and service.
We enjoyed our stay and put this place on our list of favorite places to come back.
They could only extend their wifi service a little bit, it's free but limited in usage.

A sixth and final sejour, on our really enjoyable Garden Route tour, brought us to Addo and the lovely Woodall Country House and Spa. The journey from Port Elizabeth was about an hour and the last part seemed to go on forever and we felt that we were well into the South African bush but what a haven it turned out to be.

We were staying in one of their luxury suites (Room 11) with a private entrance, garden and plunge pool. The country house is a group of buildings set alongside its own wildlife water dam with abundant bird-life visible from the open lounge and breakfast area. We arrived early but after a brief moment enjoying a welcome glass of fruit juice overlooking the wildlife and ‘dam’, we were taken to our suite – it was spacious with a large bathroom, double showers, a dressing area, lounge, bedroom, mini-bar and walk in wardrobe. Though the décor was a little dark, it was well lit and furnished. Outside, there were another set of showers, ta pool area that was a little too shaded by trees, palms, etc. which meant that, on one sunny afternoon, we had to move to the shared pool area – which is lovely, but it defeated the object of having your own private pool – the water of which, as a result of the lack of some natural light, was a bit cloudy and uninviting.

Wi-fi was chargeable, which we think is unacceptable given the 5* rating and the location.

Pre-dinner drinks and nibbles were served around 1800 and this gave us an opportunity to meet other guests, enjoy the sun setting and listening to the wildlife at twilight. The nibbles were lovely and the drinks were reasonably priced (as was the case with the mini-bar). Given the location, out in the bush, dinner was included and, on both our evenings, was excellent – especially the soup and entrees courses. The service, though slow to start with, seemed to pick up as the evening progressed and the waiters were engaging and efficient.

We were lucky to find places on the next morning game drive, as two other guests dropped out at the last minute, and we thoroughly enjoyed the drive into Addo Elephant Park with eight German guests – the ranger, Rohan, was excellent. His knowledge of the area, folk-lore and wild life was superb and we marveled at how he could spot wildlife by sight and smell, whether it be buffalo, a leopard tortoise, a lone hyena, warthogs and the ubiquitous elephant, zebra and kudu. His commentary was illuminated with great humour. Sandwiches and drinks were shared at a fantastic viewpoint looking across the reserve.

The breakfasts were really outstanding – the best that we had experienced in our 6 hotel/guest house stays – even better than the brilliant Akademie Boutique hotel in Franschhoek – and that is saying something! The choice was exceptional from home made jams and chutneys to cereals, fresh and dried fruit, numerous yogurts/smoothies, fruit juices, pastries, hams, cheeses and smoked salmon. Every morning fresh fruit was served in different ways – one morning it was fresh fruit in individual sundae glasses with fruity fromage frais underneath, the second morning it was individual fresh fruit platters. The hot breakfast menu was equally extensive. The coffee, served from conference style vacuum flasks, was the only shortcoming. Individual cafetieres would have been so much better.

Small hotel, nice location, very good service
However kitchen in restaurant was not as good as expected, could be due to energy blackout
But rooms are more than perfect, lot of privacy.
Very nice atmosphere, high standard, an absolutely recommendation

very nice lodge close to Nationla Park. Beautiful and large rooms. As well large bathroom with 2 showers, however, the pressure of water was poor and the second shower didn't work at all. Why having 2 showers if one is out of function? Good beds. The Wifi worked only close to the reception. The spa was in good condition and clean, nice prepared with a heart on the floor for the hydrotherapy bath, friendly and good massage. The restaurant showed a good athmosphere, food was good not more, good and resaonable priced wines. The safari was very impressive, the ranger tried to show us most of the animals, good service during the safari. In general the complete staff was helpful + friendly.
