We stayed in the self-catering chalets for 3 nights in January 2011 in order to explore Addo. We had a wonderful stay. A great way to get away from it all, with some comforts. The chalet has everything you need, the views are beautiful and the peace and quiet was just what we needed.

The farm is perfectly located in order to explore Addo and the host (Rod) was very informative and had some freat tips on where to go in Addo. Nothing was to much trouble for our hosts and their friendly staff.

Great plcae.

Stayed for two nights. Magna was very friendly and welcoming on arrival and showed us all round the guest farm. Rooms were stylish with inside and outside showers which everyone found to be fun. Magna and Rod hosted a braii on our first night which was excellent and we can only heap praise on the tour of the elephant park that we had with Rod the following morning. He was very knowledgeable and we all had a most enjoyable drive seeing the elephants at close hand and learning about them and other animals within the park.
If I had to be critical, it would be to say that there was not much consideration made for vegetarians (a criticism that applies not only here but to most SA establishments as South Africans are big meat eaters). We ate there again our second night and the choice of oxtail stew and/or chicken drumsticks left my daughter with the option of rice, spinach and broccoli - the night before there had been a larger choice of vegetables as well as bread and a pumpkin item on offer. Dessert both nights were poor and I think offering a home made one would improve dining there . Anyway, that is my only criticism and does not detract at all from the wonderful two nights we had there. Thank you both very much.

We stayed the one night at Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm and it was fantastic. Rod & Magna were great enthusiastic hosts who were very knowledgeable. The setting was great - we stayed in the bush cabins which were fantastic for the full outdoor experience. The food was great for both dinner and breakfast and Rod & Magna couldnt do enough to ensure our stay was fulfilling.

One night here is not enough.

We have just come back from a 2 week trip along the Garden Route; we spent the first 3 days at Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm and had a truly excellent time. The accommodation was excellent and the home cooking was terrfic - the chicken pie was to die for - Rod and Magda were perfect hosts and did everything (and more) to make our stay truly special. If you're looking to start your trip along the Garden Route from Port Elizabeth or want to spend a few days at Addo, I feel sure that you'll struggle to find anywhere as good as this. PS: Don't let the name and the thought of Dung Beetles put you off; the only Beetles we saw were part of Rod's powerpoint presentation (which you must ask him to talk you through) and when we went to the Addo Elephant Park.

I recommend this as one of the rare gems of South Africa. The people who run the guest farm couldn't be more hospitable and accommodating. The food they prepared for us was amazing. The cabin was perfect, with oversized bath tub, outdoor shower, fresh fruit, everything you need in the morning. Plus, the location is tucked away and secluded, but still very close to Addo and other safari tours in the area. I will definitely be coming back to Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm!!
