Spent 3 nights here while visiting Addo Elephant National Park and a safari with Schotia Safaris. Stayed in one of the Chalets, very spacious and relaxing. Dined at the Farm one night, great cooking of local game etc. Have no hesitation in recommending. Apologies to the hosts who looked after us so well for taking so long to post this review!

I cannot fault this beautiful and buzzing Guest Farm. As you drive up the dirt track, lined with Orange trees either side and wind your way up to the gate, you feel like your adventure is beginning. We stayed in the Bush Cabins and were thrilled by the outside kitchen, the outside toilet and shower and the unspoiled view that stretched as far as the eye could see, over the Farm land and to the mountains in the distance. The Bush Cabins are basic but perfect. Clean and comfortable with unbelievably quaint attention to detail like making wooden hangers for your clothes from spare wood they had lying around. We got our fire going and cooked out on the open braai and watched the sun going down... it was beautiful and romantic.
The next day, Rod, the husband of the couple who run the guest farm, took us out on an excursion. First to have a Cheetah encounter - which was personal and incredible. He took photos for us so that we could just enjoy the day. We then had lunch and headed to the second portion of the day at Addo Elephant park. Rod's knowledge and passion made the whole experience well worth the extra cost of his guided tour (geared2go) - He showed us all we could hope for and more as well as snapped photos of our experience and answer all our questions. The next morning we were presented with a DVD of our day which was excellent and also photos of our cabin from above etc which was a lovely touch and a great memento.
Both Rod and Magna could not do more to make us welcome, look after us and make our experience as special as possible. They helped celebrate our anniversary too and generously treated us to a bottle of bubbles with our lunch. We wish we had stayed longer than the two nights.
Don't be put off by the outside toilet and shower, its so private and so protected. We both just swanned around naked in the mornings because we could!!
THANK YOU DUNG BEETLE GUEST FARM! We WILL be back and we ARE sending our family along too... You did everything... You are a power team and you made our year!!

Room Tip: Bush Cabin Number 3!!!!

Exactly what you want from a guest house near a game farm. "African" but still luxurious and comfortable. Delicious food, perfect service as well as extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Thanks so much for a great stay. The bush cabins are simple and basic but quite romantic and have absolutely everything and more that you need.

We stayed in one of the bush huts, these are rustic but comfortable with outside toilet and shower facilities. Comfortable beds and all the privacy you need but if you do not want to self cater a short walk from the main Boma, bookings for meals essential The staff both on the farm and in the lodge are unbelievably friendly. Thanks

This geusthouse was fantastic. We travelled from Kruger all the way down and already had very good experiences with the guesthouses and logdes we have visited. Just as you thought it couldn't be better it sure did in this guesthouse. We stayed in one of the houses on the propertie. The house was beautiful with everything of comfort you could want. An inside and an outside douche even. The bed was perfect but the location was the best. With a wide view over the Zuurbergen. Magna and Rod made it all complete. The care, the feeling of being welcome and amount of willing to have a great stay is without limits. We took a gamedrive with Rod and learned so much of Addo but also about Africa in common. Together they make sure that you will have an unforgetable stay in a very nice spot in Africa. We can go on for hours about how good it was, how great the braai was, the breakfast, the beautiful elefants we saw, the 2 giant male Lions we saw, but you better check it out yourself. On the bar in the dining room is a cupboard with a text: Arrive as strangers, leave asFriends, that is surely the case with Magna and Rod. Thanks for a great time, Anke&Natan

Room Tip: Any room will do, if you like comfort, go for the "regular" houses. We didn't stay in...

This past weekend we participated in a trial run and mountain bike event in the Zuurberg. We wanted to stay close to the area where the events took place, required catering for the whole weekend and stay in comfortable lodgings with enough space and also have enough activities to keep the kids entertained as well. We were 3 families with kids ranging from 2 to 16 years old and we used 4 different rooms.
What a special weekend it turned out to be. The rooms are spacious and have all the necessities and luxury extras that one can think of. There is lovely grassed areas, a heated rock pool and a warm spa, beautiful views across the valley to enjoy both sunrise and sunset and the central dining and entertainment area is great.
Our hosts, Magna and Rod, made the weekend even more special. They are on top of their game, know the area very well, are both super cooks and their warmth and enthusiasm made the meals and sundowners even more enjoyable.
The meals very fantastic - very tasty snacks with the sundowners, kudu steaks to die for, a large tasty breakfast that will carry you through the day to the next wonderful dinner. Well priced wine list with enough variety to cater for all tastes as well.
To Magna and Rod - thanks for a wonderful weekend, we will be back for next year's event and know already where we will stay.

Me and my bf spent almost 3 weeks in SA traveling and we think this was the most perfect place to stay. It has the luxury you need when reaching a certain age (no more camp fires after 40) but it still has the hospitality of a guest house instead of the (only) nice professionalism of luxury hotels. They are located right next to the Addo Elephant park and the guy who runs the guesthouse is a ranger, too. They have 2 dogs on the premises but a) they are used to guests and were really nice calm dogs (but I know that if you are afraid of dogs it doesn't matter) and b) the owner offered putting them away in his own enclosed garden right next door. So no need to worry about it :) Don't miss the bbq they offer - there we had the best Kudu steak grilled on the open fire! If we ever come back to SA we will definitely stay here again - more than just 1 night....Sarah & Chris
