“Camargue - away from mosquitos.”
Reviewed February 5, 2012

This is a wonderful chambre d'hote / gite / restaurant. An old mas, sensitively and artistically restored, with very comfortable and spacious rooms. Those we saw - one a delightful family apartment, another with a bathroom the size of a bedroom, another a large room opening straight onto a swimming pool and a gite with a private garden - all warm, welcoming and tasteful. The welcome and atmosphere is also very personal and warm, a delightful hostess who could so easily become a friend. She is also an excellent and original chef, we enjoyed a delcious meal and were sorry to leave. An ideal stop for exploring the Camargue, away from the mosquitos but conveniently close for easy day trips. Highly recommended.

We booked this Gite with trepidation due to the other UK reviewers comments. However,

I have to say that the Gite the estate and the host exceeded all our expectations, this was without doubt the most beautiful property we have stayed at in over twenty years of renting holiday properties in the south of France. The Gite itself is beautifully appointed and impeccably maintained, with great bathrooms and the most amazing kitchen. In the summer heat it benefits from a good deal of natural shade which makes it very cool and welcoming both for an afternoon siesta and for sleeping perfectly at night.

The owner of the Gite Silvi is the most charming and helpful host we have ever met. When she discovered we were interested in the local wines of the region she went out of her way to introduce us personally to local winemakers and arrange tours of their vineyards and winery. One other enormous bonus is that Silvi is the most incredible cook and offers an evening meal service if you request it, By the second week we had given up completely on cooking in the evening and had Silvi take care of all our meals.

All in all I can not recommend this property highly enough, we have already rebooked for next year and I can see this becoming a firm family favourite.

We enjoyed our stay with Silvi, who proved to be a friendly hostess and an excellent cook!
Meals were slightly expensive but worth paying for!
We stayed in Le Poustalou - a cool, quiet, simply furnished, garden room, adjacent to the main building - which suited us well because we could easily come and go as we pleased without disturbing anyone else. This room has a fridge (very useful in the South of France), and a couple of electric rings (which we didn't use). The lighting in Le Poustalou is limited but wasn't much of a problem.
We had a look at the Gite but didn't recognise the adverse review posted on this site.

Very convenient location : not far from the sea and Camargue, not fare from Montpellier & Arles...but very quiet and nice location.
For a first experience in "guest house" it was a very good start : We loved the place , the food and the atmosphere.
Very nice house, nice and confortable rooms... and very friendly welcome by Silvi.
For sure we will come again..for a longer stay.

We booked through a reputable UK property company but found the gite to be inadequate, poorly laid out, totally inappropriate for the number of guests, dirty, shabby and in places dangerous.

We paid a premium for £890 for an end of April week which for a French Gite is a lot... we were told it was a detached luxery villa. It was none of these things.
