This was the best "resort" we have ever stayed in. All adults, boutique size and beautiful beach front make this place a must stay for anyone traveling without kids. We loved the life style on Rarotonga and this hotel seemed to fit right into it. The staff are super friendly and helpful but not in your face over the top kind of service that we are used to seeing in resorts. We loved chilling out by the beach in the afternoon and then meeting up with, and meeting new people around the pool deck during happy hour. THe restaurant was first rate, and the rooms were clean nice size and loved the out door shower! We stayed over Christmas and New years. The staff did a great job organizing functions and evenings for all the guests over the holidays. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, when we go back to Raro we will stay here again provided they have a room for us.

My family and I were invited to a 21st birthday celebration on Rarotonga and had been told by a friend who had been to Rarotonga a few months before where she would recommend we stay. She had stayed at Manuia Beach and couldn't speak highly enough of the accommodation. We decided to book and, from the moment of our arrival, we felt like ''one of the family''. Taking breakfast under a thatched roof with open air dining and views over the lagoon was just amazing. We hired a car but the resort was so beautiful we scarcely wanted to leave it. 5 days was too short and we had to tear ourselves away from the resort and island.

Room Tip: A duplex overlooking the beach.

My wife and I stayed here a week over New Years. There are 24 units made up of 12 duplex cottages. They are all palm-thatched and quaint, fairly large for two people. There is no TV, just a radio-clock and a fridge. The shower is a walled enclosure outside the bathroom, and very nice. There are about 6 staff, who keep the place and restaurant running efficiently. The open-air restaurant fronts right on the beach, which is beautiful. It is a fairly good spot for snorkeling, but is pretty shallow. It's all inside a reef about 500 feet out. A better alternative for snorkeling is to take the bus to Fruits of Rarotonga beach, about 20 minutes away. The food in the restaurant is simple, but very fresh, both vegetables and fish, and delicious. The included breakfast is also simple, but good, especially the pancakes, which are truly world-class. The singers and drummers on some evenings were really really good. I don't know how this small hotel can afford such great performers. We checked out several other hotel facilities on Rarotonga and Aitutaki, and thought this one had the best all-around ambience, though it is much less expensive than some of the others. We had a very pleasant stay. Thank you, Alex and Kura! (Prices seemed pretty high in Rarotonga)

Room Tip: Ask for one of the ocean-front units.

We had a fabulous 7 days based at Manuia Beach Resort, the only complaint, it was 3 to 4 days too short. :(
Quiet, relaxing, paradise. Sit in the pool, lay in the hammock, a daybed on the beach, all to keep an eye on that beautiful blue Pacific.
The island itself is VERY safe, friendly, clean and tidy. Safe swimming - no bugs or worse to fear on the island, we hardly saw a fly or mosquito and we went almost everywhere, but maybe we were lucky with the season (Christmas week).
Great eating - tons of fresh seafood and perhaps surprisingly great meat (We only saw 4 cows?!!)
Dive with Big Fish. Lunch at Trader Nicks. Dine with a Cultural Show. Do stay 10 days.
We'll be back - soon I hope!!
Thank you Manuia!

Room Tip: Recommend villa's 1 to 6 for ocean front views...and private outside showers!

This was my first trip to the Cook Islands, and so I relied on the recommendation of my local travel agent who booked my stay at Manuia Beach Resort. The online photos looked good, but the actual experience far surpassed my wildest expectations. The staff are lovely. Nothing is too much to ask. The cook is reputed to be the best on the island, and I can affirm that his/her reputation is well deserved. Each night the menu featured fresh catch of the day, and island specialties for afternoon snacks were simply a delight. Restaurants in the island are within easy reach of Manuia, but I didn't venture out to try any as the food at the Resort was so very good. The ocean during the day is like a bath, azure blue and crystal clear, perfect for snorkeling or cooling off after sunbathing. The sunsets in the evening are stunningly beautiful. I loved the location of the rooms, which are just a few steps from the beach. I also appreciated the absence of televisions and radios in the rooms, which are clean and functional, with outdoor showers a real plus. The gardens surrounding the rooms are well tended, with tropical flora of every color in the rainbow. There are no young children; so, the atmosphere is quite and private; I very much appreciated being able to relax, read or just listen to the surf. The option to socialize with other guests at the Resort is always open (I made some nice friends while there); however, if you choose to be alone, others (including the staff) will respect your privacy. On the whole, my week at Manuia has been one of the nicest vacations that I have had. I am looking forward to my next trip to Rarotonga and will certainly be staying at Manuia Beach Resort.

We stayed here for 5 days over NZ Labour weekend. The resort is close to town and there is a car rental right opposite (although they ran out of cars when we were there). Our room was large and had everything you need. Loved the outdoor shower, perfect after the beach. Our room was close to the carpark and whilst we didn't have a problem with noise a room on the other side would be better - away from the restaurant and flow of people heading to the beach.

Time your snorkeling for high tide - the water gets very shallow and you can find yourself getting swept against the rocks. The snorkeling is fabulous - a huge range of fish right out from the resort beach. Take some reef shoes as well so you can walk in the water without hurting your feet.

This resort isn't cheap but it's worth it for a relaxing time away from the kids.

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing place for our honeymoon destination-this was it! We were married in late November in Chicago and spent five days at Manuia. We booked an ocean room that faced westward. As we pulled the blinds open each morning, we were greeted with bright sunshine and blue waters. The facilities are well-maintained and very tidy. Alex and the rest of the staff are very knowledgeable about the island and can offer tips on where to go if you decide to venture into Muri or Avarua (the two main towns on the island). One piece of advice for you-make sure you take the time to learn the bus routes on the island. One bus runs clockwise, and the other runs anti-clockwise. There is a bus stop right outside of the resort, so a trip into Avarua is roughly 30 minutes. Very convenient! Furthermore, the staff picked us up and dropped us off at the airport.

If you're looking for tropical paradise and the feeling of owning "your own island", you won't be disappointed with the Cook Islands or Manuia. My wife and I would certainly come back to visit again!

Room Tip: Ocean view makes for great scenes, but may be slightly more noisy.
