This place really is heaven on earth and this resort is where angles sleep, eat and frolick. The accomodation is like home away from home and the family of staff that care for you while you stay with them treat you like part of the family. Hospitality is not a job to the staff but a way of life which makes you enjoy your stay even more. Your needs are the most important thing as everyone hopes they are, and the food at the resturant there is second to none anywhere in the world. I left my heart at the Edgewater Resort in Rarotonga and I can't wait to go back and get it.

We recently stayed at the Edgewater and as far as resort vacations go, this was the worst "beach resort" I have ever stayed at.....and we travel a lot. My husband and I got a 2-bedroom apartment as we were travelling with my mother and our 20-month old child. It was at the back of the resort where I'm fairly certain a lot of the staff live. The carpets had huge stains all over them, the air conditioning only cooled down one corner of the living room, the bedrooms got so hot we couldn't sleep, the towels smelled like dirty old socks and the main restaurant was terrible. In terms of the restaurant, here is an example of what I mean by terrible: we ordered chicken nuggets for our son, fish bites for my mother and i had Calamari rings. Although these should all be considered very different items, we all ended up with deep fried fish in different shapes and they all tasted equally bad. A lot of the restaurant staff was also extremely rude, with the exception of one very pleasant server. And finally, the food is ridiculously overpriced.

Raratonga itself is lovely and being able to snorkel right off the beach of the resort was great, but I'd pick a different resort to do it from. Should you decide to stay here anyways, make sure you don't get stuck in Apartment 13. It truly is one of the most horrible rooms I've ever had the displeasure of staying in.

This was our 3rd time to Raro and the Edgewater. It is not the classiest of resorts but it has everything you need and you get what you pay for. Had compared costs with The Rarotongan, but cost wise the Edgewater is definitely cheaper and we had never had any problems previously. Decided to spend the additional money on activities. The air-con could have been a bit more efficient, otherwise top notch service. Loves the theme nights and cocktail hour each day. The crab racing is still hillarious even after the 3rd time. Laid back 'island time' staff, love it. Very friendly and helpful. We had a late checkout till 6pm even though we werent being picked up for our flight home until midnight. Went to hand over the key and store our luggage and were asked if we wanted to hold onto our room till later at no extra cost, was a highlight, especially as we could grab a few hours sleep. If you want to stay at a resort without all the extras, I definitely recommend the Edgewater.

VIP Delux Beach front suite (2)
Everything we needed at a stones throw away (sandy beach, beautiful water, restaurant & pool, tennis court, activities room, laundry...) Our teenagers (2) had their own suite with a queen bed each & a spa bath and we had an ajoining suite. The rooms were spacious and cleaned daily. The resort looked well maintained, beautiful location and some amazing sunsets. The service was fantastic and the staff were helpful & friendly. Daily activities catered for all ages. The snorkelling was awesome. Great idea to pack your own snorkel & mask and don't forget your reef shoes:)

Loved this accommodation, staff very great and helpful they couldn't do enough to help and needed. Loved the cleanliness of the restaurant. Stayed in a garden room clean and tidy room. Would recommend this place to others and I'm coming back next year and only got home today from Rarotonga after 6 days. Spent hours at the spa having massage, bath soak and facial by a wonderful massage therapist she made very relaxing.

This was an average place, especially if you go for the garden or garden superior rooms. Tired and shabby feel to the whole place. We were disappointed. The beach and pool were really nice, but I'm sure there are better places on the island to stay.
