The staff very extremely friendly, it was in a good location. However don't eat at the resort as the food was terrible, we tried it two nights in a row hoping that it would improve - it didn't! After that we ate out every night.

My sisters and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday to Rarotonga We were lucky enough to stay in a beachfront hotel room on the 3rd floor and the view was amazing. The room was very large with two singles and a double bed and a massive bathroom. The balcony was huge and the view was amazing. The room was cleaned every day and it was immaculate every time we came back.
The beach at the hotel is very rocky or full of coral, so rockshoes when swimming or snorkling are a must. Out of all the spots that we snorkelled around the island in front of our hotel was by far the best variety of fish.
We only ate once at the hotel as there were just too many other fantastic places to eat, but the meal was fine and reasonably priced.
Happy hour is fantastic and a must if you are wanting to get a cheaper drink.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, but some things to note, the reef is close to the hotel and so the water at times can be quite lumpy and murky, also there does seem to be a bit of a current at different times of the day which would be quite difficult for children to swim in.
The pool is quite small for the resort and was constantly full.
We were disappointed with the activities, most of the time the activities weren't done and if there was only one or two of you they simply pointed you in the direction to go and left you to it,
I think if you are looking at a holiday on a budget then this hotel is a great option, if you are wanting a more sandy beach and bigger pools for the kids then there were better options available, but the outlook from the hotel restaurant/bar was hard to beat.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms have amazing views and are very large, the garden rooms are at the back of the res...

We thank you for posting your comments, and are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, and that the room was to your every requirements, our housekeeping staff are very attentive when servicing the rooms and always with a smile . The view from your balcony in the Beachfront rooms are great, specially when you have spectacular sunsets or whales breaching in front of the resort, with us being on the western side of the island and being so close to the reef, we do encounter a few strong currents and waves at times if the ocean is rough, we are always alert with these natural occurrences and do advise our guests/children that the seas are to rough for swimming. Our happy hour is a highlight, cocktails at good prices on the shores edge watching the sunset, great finish off to the day. In regards to our activities we will be sure to discuss this with our activities director to ensure our staff are more accommodating.
We do look forward to welcoming you to our shores in the near future.

I would highly recommend the Edgewater. We stayed in a beach front deluxe which had amazing views, had a spa bath, bar fridge, nice shower and was very tidy and clean. The restaurant was great with some beautiful food, and the setting with Mals bar is fantastic. One of the best things about the place is the staff, so friendly and some with a wicked sense of humour! Being able to snorkel straight out from the resort and see heaps of fish was brilliant. The activities on offer are great, we really enjoyed making coconut hats and how to make raw fish dishes. We are already thinking about coming back next year and bringing the whole family back!

Room Tip: Beach front deluxe has some amazing views, especially at sunset!

We thank you for your great review, and that the facilities in your rooms were to your requirements. Our cultural activities are planned for our guests to learn all aspects of our Cook Island Culture, including the raw fish making and snorkeling with the various fish we have in our lagoon a few meters away from your room, and we appreciate you making mention of this in your comments.
We do look forward to welcoming you back to our shores in the near future.

My husband and I got married here with a very large group of people, they did a wonderful job and it was a very busy period for them too, we stayed there for 2 weeks most of that in a lagoon view room and a few nights in a villa by the water, the staff were amazing and went the extra mile and you were always greeted with a lovely smile.

overed and bit by ants. Our feet were black from the floor, not clean the bed sheets were dirty. An activity member was very rude to us and others. The hotel staff were rude and not helpfull and they took money of us when unecessary and failed to tell us. Our experienhas been awfull as our artillery was wrong so we missed our flight and also the staff failed to also mention it but yet still took money of us to extend our room. I'm very unhappy and also we had to pay another $1500 to get home my advice don't book with this company or with this resort the only good thing here was the waiters and bar staff work so hard and always have a smile on there faces these are the ones that should be rewarded. And now we had to pay extra Expedia don't want to know not good.

Thank you for posting your comments, we appreciate your feedback. It is very unfortunate that you did not enjoy your stay with us, including the cleanliness of your room and our activities staff, we have discussed this further with our management team to ensure this matter is dealt with immediately as we do pride ourselves with island hospitality. We do advise guests to reconfirm their flights with the reception, if we have flight details on file we do ensure you depart on your flight, so extra charges for fares and rooms do not occur to guests on departure.
We do hope you return back to our shores so we can truly show you the island hospitality.

Handy to the airport and town (Avarua), this is a perfectly acceptable place to stay unless you are looking for something more than that. The beach, when we were there, was basically crap. The reef is very close and waves breaking over it stirred the water up to the point that you couldn't see a thing. There wasn't much to see anyway. Lots of rocks and stones and dead coral, and out on the reef hundreds of nasty looking spiky things. On our last day we saw some whales just out from the reef, which was great. Our travel agent talked us into buying something called "My Time", which was bollocks. It is supposed to give you things to enhance your stay but it seemed much more like a way of fleecing a few extra dollars out of us. The only thing of benefit to us was a later check-out to match the flight home, but even then we had to spend hours in the bar waiting for the ride to the airport .

The breakfast (thrown in) was very basic, and the restaurant meals were varied. Sometimes fine, sometimes pretty average.

The room was tired, the bed was a dog, the staff were great, the Island is beautiful.

In summary. OK, but I will try somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: We had a "beachfront" room which was on the 2nd level of a 3 level building. It had a nice...

We appreciate your feedback. With our location of the resort being on the western side of the island, we are within close proximity to the reefs edge and endure big swells which can stir up the sand in our lagoon on some occasions, on the upside we get to witness some great surfing and the whales just within arms reach of the reef that you got to encounter which was a highlight of your stay. Mytime is a bonus scheme program designed for additional value to your stay with us. With our rooms we are sorry if they were not up to your standards and do apologize if we did not get it right this time.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days and would rate our stay as just being 'ok'. The resort is definitely geared towards families with children, which is great if you have them, not so great if like us, you don't. Also didn't help that we arrived during the school holidays. If we were to travel with children, I would def give this place some consideration as the pool is centrally located (so easy to watch them), and I also saw tennis courts and a games room.

We were given a room in the 'Atiu' block which I understand is part of the 'older' buildings in this resort. Though the room was clean, my first impressions were that the room is dated and quite cheaply furnished. The slight musty smell also confirming that we were in a room that is quite old. The TV reception is also terrible - had only one channel that could be watched without irritation. We had a room that had a double bed and a single, which at first seemed to many beds for the 2 of us, but in the end worked out quite well as the double bed just proved too small and 'hot' for both of us to sleep on at the same time. Unfortunately there was also no water on our arrival at 2am to Raro something that I would have thought should have been a necessity in the fridge, even it its not complimentary.

The restaurants were ok, though agree that the service is a bit hit and miss. Some nights were good, other nights were terrible. The food is good, though overpriced for what you get.

I would recommend this hotel only if I were travelling as part of a family unit with kids.

We thank you for your feedback and would like to advise that we cater for all travelers whether they are on their honeymoon, wedding/group or just having a tropical island getaway. During the school holidays we do get a few more families staying with us as we are an affordable property to cater for all budgets and have many activities to keep everyone busy throughout the holidays. I would like to comment that our rooms are continuously having light refurbishing, we have available in our 24 hour front desk water that can be purchased. We appreciate your comments and if we did not get it right this time we will strive to improve in all areas.
We do hope in the near future we can welcome you back to our shores.
