“better places”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

We tried the food one evening when it was the barbeque buffet. The poor person doing the barbeque was set up in a position where he had no light to see what he was doing, he was literaly in the dark. Not surprising the food was bad. The only good part of the buffet were the really great deserts!

“OK but fall short of others in the area”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

Food was quite good, particularly the raw fish dish.
Cost was OK. There were slightly cheaper, better places nearby.
Ambience was a little 'sterile'. " Almost seemed like having dinner in the bathroom"
Staff a bit disinterested we felt.
Spelling on specials "chalk board" barely standard one level.
Salt and pepper were "airline sachets" I mean - come on!
Not many patrons there, whereas other eateries in area were booked out.
So- a bit of work to do (other than the Chef). Won't take much. Sit down for half an hour and think about the little things.
We will definitely try again next year.

“A nice lunch”
Reviewed September 3, 2011

Had a nice lunch here. It was a bit small but ok for the cost.. A lovely garden setting with an open plan restaurant. The parking was a bit of a problem as there were very few spaces and the entry was narrow and hard to turn. This is quite a populated area so not so private or intimate but they do have some brilliant sunsets on this side of the Island. I probably would not go back again as it did not stand out like some other places.I would not comment on an evening meal as that could be different and have heard that its very good.

“Excellent Meals”
Reviewed August 31, 2011

This restaurant is part of the Sunset Resort. They have an extensive range of meals available here all day. This is a fabulous opportunity to try some of the local fare particularly the fish. We had some excellent meals here. Highly recommended.

“Fabulous food”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

We were staying at the Rarotongan and were trying to go to as many different restaurants as possible while in Raro, The Anchorage was hands down my favorite. It was quiet and peaceful and the service was quick and friendly. I had the prawns which were in some type of satay/chili/garlic sauce served with rice. I would highly recommend it!!
