Very basic hotel right next to the ferry port, as the name suggests. The rooms are a little dated but ok for a couple of nights!
They organised me a private tour with a local guide called Harrinton, who was just fantastic. He knew all the history of the island, fauna and wildlife, I highly recommend you ask for him!

We stayed at The Landing during June 2014 and had a great stay. The common areas are excellent, gigantic hammocks upstairs, beer garden out the back and comfortable lounge in the front. We got robbed when we went out one day (left our stuff on the bikes, stupid) and John went out of his way to help us. He took us down to the tourist police (who are about as helpful as lemon juice in your eye) and turned what could have been a sordid affair into a breeze.

The hotel is cheap, clean, convenient and we won't go anywhere else when we visit Ometepe again.

Room Tip: There is a double-size dorm bed in dorm 1 which they didn't charge us extra for.

The reception and communal areas of this hotel/hostel are really excellent but we stayed in the dorm rooms and it was the smallest dorm room I've ever stayed in. They could fit two, perhaps three, single beds in the dorm rooms but not the three bunk beds they have. We were planning to stay three nights at this hostel but because the dorm rooms were so incredibly small, we left after one night (we would not have stayed even one night but it was late when we arrived) and went to another hostel in the town. The staff were also not particularly nice. Perhaps the private rooms are nicer but I would really not recommend you to stay in the dorms here.

We appreciate when our visitors take the time to write us a review. Even a bad one!

The staff of the hotel does an excellent job with customer service, so I was very surprised that you were not only unhappy with the size of the dorm, but also unhappy with the staff. You are the first person who has ever complained about our dorm size. I'm very sorry that our $7/night/dorm bed did not meet your expectations and I trust you found something that was more to your liking.

Happy travels and thanks for your visit!

The staff was supernice and helpful. A friend got sick and they brought him quickly to a hospital by car (we didnt had to pay taxi and speak spanish). The staff was locals and always happy.
The rooms were clean with fan, no bugs. The hostel had a top floor with a nice breeze and view over the city and volcano. Super cheap (5€ each for a private room). WiFi included.

Nice local cheap restaurants down the road. Try the smothies/milkshakes! They have ice and fresh fruits.

We thought it was a good relaxing start of the island, to orientate and prepare for hikes and visiting other places.

We stayed at the Landing for a couple of nights while on Ometepe and overall we weren't super impressed. The location is easy to find and it's great that you can book this hostel online. They have excellent common areas with rooftop hammocks and furniture . There were lots of showers for those in dorm rooms and lockers in the rooms were huge. We had our laundry done and it only took an hour, it's the little things.
Some of the less positive experiences were: the bunk rooms were very small, bunks without ladders (how are you to get up there?), staff had some misinformation about ferries, very thin walls (you can hear everything) and there were frequent power outages.

Room Tip: Spend time on the roof!

We stayed here four nights in a private for three. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They helped us figure out what to do on the island and with our bus schedule to get back to Honduras. They have the best hammocks ever! The bathroom in the private room is just behind a wall- no door or curtain. You get really close to your bunk mates if you're not already! They have dorms from 7 USD a night. We paid 10 USD/per person a night for our private.

Room Tip: If you are a trio, I think the private is worth it!
