Domaine Saint Pierre de Trapel
Reviewed August 21, 2011

My wife and I, together with two friends have just returned from two wonderful weeks spent at the Domaine Saint Pierre. We stayed in the self contained gatehouse which has two good sized bedrooms and a fantastic bathroom. The living accommodation is comfortable and has ever facility you could wish for. The small terrace has an inviting ‘plunge pool’ which is very inviting after a day by the beautiful pool in the well manicured extensive grounds.
The holiday was made by the hosts Catherine and Christophe who are attentive and always available for every need. Christophe has a passion for red wine and his wine tasting session is both educational and enlightening.
A car is necessary to explore the local surroundings and purchase the local fayre but the local hypermarket has wonderful fresh produce and is not far away. For those who like cycling, bikes can be hired from Carcassonne and the Midi tow path is a wonderful gentle ride.
For a relaxing vacation this is the place to be.

JUST had the most incredible stay at this typical "chateau du sud". renovated by the owners and our hosts,Catherine and Christophe. We could NOT be in a more ideal setting.
Our room, (all 5 rooms have their own elegant, refined style) -was immaculately clean,
comfortable, quiet, very bright with a great view on the park and the pool, not to mention,a HUGE sunny bathroom. BREAKFASTS WER E DIVINE! served in the park with birds singing through pines and laurels, greeted by Jonas, the cat,and squirrels..our hosts, not only, gave us great recommandations in the neighborhood and all around this beautiful region (cathars castles, inns etc...) but would ,also, make reservations for us. We discovered wonderful wines as Christophe has a real passion for local vyneyards.
Just a MAGICAL experience that we ,highly, recommand. Saint-Pierre de Trapel has a lot to offer. THANKS to Catherine and Christophe for, as they say, sharing their "havre de paix" . Booking for another week sometimes next year!

My husband, daughter and I spent a few nights and felt comfortable and at ease right away. Christophe made sure we had arrangements made for dinner every night, and even mapped out our excursions for the days. One afternoon our cell phone rang and it was Christophe inviting us to a wine tasting that evening at the chateau. A nice way to connect with his guests. Highly recommended!

My husband and I first came here in May 2005. We stayed in the Maison d Oc, the 18th century gamekeeper's lodge, which was perfect-clean, well organized and private. Just as advertised! What can I say about Christophe and Catherine? There aren't enough accolades. They are warm, helpful and were so gracious by speaking their wonderful English to these Americans who, at that time, only knew Bonjour. Since then, at different times, I have brought my daughter and friends to this wonderful place. I come every year and it seems to get better every year. The location is wonderful for hiking, biking and visiting castles and caves. The Mediterranean is 40 min. away and beautiful villages abound. Food shopping is only minutes away, as are the many wonderful restaurants I highly recommend wonderful place, especially for first time visitors to France, who may be nervous. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Each room is exactly as advertised.

We stayed at Domaine St Pierre de Trapel for 3 nights in in May and it was absolutely wonderful. The setting is idyllic - a grand, charming, renovated old mansion with a large, immaculate park and a lovely swimming pool. The whole place exudes old-world history and charm. It is very quiet and peaceful. The hosts, Cristophe and his wife, are incredibly graceful and made sure we did not lack anything. They served us a rich and delicious breakfast every morning and lit the fire in the fireplace. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large bathrooms, very clean and tastefully decorated, each one in a different style/color.
The place is close to Carcassonne and is a good starting point for day trips in the area: Narbonne, the medieval castles atop of mountains - Puivert, Puilaurens, Peyrepertuse, the mistery town of Rennes-le-Chateau, etc.
We could not have asked for a better place in a nicer area. I hope we'll have the chance to go again sometime.

We stayed with friends for three nights at the Domaine and rate it as the highlight of our three weeks in Spain and France. Close to the colorful Canal Du Midi and the historic walled-Cite, the Domaine is a quiet retreat from the busy Languedoc. The rooms are comfortable and clean with large baths, the grounds are calm and inviting (as is the pool---although in April it was too cold to swim), and the breakfast by a crackling fire was excellent. But the real plus is the ownership team---Christophe and Catherine---who provided a warm welcome, excellent advice on area driving trips and restaurants, and (from Christophe) a memorable, informative and amusing tasting of Languedoc wines. The Domaine is highly recommended for anyone interested in this part of southern France looking for something different, a quiet retreat and a memorable stay. If we are ever back in this area, we shall certain return. Look at the website and be assured that what you see is what you get. Excellent!

I traveled to Languedoc with my wife and adult daughter in late April 2011. Christophe Pariset and his wife Catherine were wonderful to us. They both took an interest in our traveling plans and were really helpful in planning day trips. Their local advice on where to go really made the difference. Every morning he made a nice warm fire where we took breakfast - it is a lasting memory. Their restored estate is extremely nice and most comfortable. I would recommend their place to anyone traveling in the area.
