We went in for a weekend and had not booked before leaving bangalore. I called them while I was reaching wayanad in the morning. I asked them about vacancy, and luckily i found 2 rooms for us.
Very good people, also assisted us in the places to visit. Room service is good. Its right on the highway and you can ask them for arrangement for cabs too. Rooms are ok and affordable.

The website demonstrates that it is possible to make a shabby property in a grim location look really attractive. Sulthan Bathery itself is a typical, dilapidated Indian town: its only saving grace is that it is close to Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary.

The hotel is shabby. The room was drab and noisy with a hard bed. Apart from the sound of the traffic outside (it's on the main road from Kerala to Tamil Nadu so there's a constant stream of lorries heading up to the pass through the mountains. Added to that, the people in the room on the floor above seemed to start shifting furniture each night at about 9pm.

I also thought the hotel would be able to organise a visit to Muthanga. I told them I wanted to do the 3 hour trek and they said it wasn't possible. Fortunately I'd met an American woman in the hotel restaurant who had done it that morning. The person I was tlaking to insisted that there was no trekking. It wasn't until I talked to another member of staff that he said that it was fine and he would book it.

The restaurant was OK and there's a shop attached to the hotel where you can buy drinks, biscuits etc. The only other advantage is that the hotel accepts credit cards which is unusual in this part of India.

On balance though I'd recommend finding a homestay on one of the plantations outside the town.

Hotel Mint Flower was bang on the NH 212. It was very convenient for one to halt but I did not choose the hotel for that reason. I chose it from the good reviews of the travellers who have stayed there. I must say I am satisfied. The reviews were true.
We stayed in a Superior room which was portrayed exactly as in the brochure. Even though our room was facing the Nh, there was absolutely no sound. The bedroom was spacious enough for two adults and a child. The room was tastefully decorated with shimmering white curtains and a small cubicle fully covered with glass for an easy sit out with a cup of coffee.
The bathroom was clean with modern amenities and hot water running throughout. The rooms were nicely ventillated too. The luggage compartment too was out of the way nicely fitted to the side.
The food would be served in the room or in the restaurant which is fine by my standards. The ladies in the restaurant had to wear a headress for no hairy incidents. The food is good. Tourist from outside should taste the food prepared in Kerala that is typical to the state. The food prepared in this northern part has a distinctive flavour than the south. Try the Appam and Egg Curry as an example.
Our Superior room booking had a Complimentry Breakfast. Even that had a lot of choices.
The hotel has a bakery attached named as Mathias Bakery. You can carry the Calicut Halwa from here. They also have the Pineapple flavour. The Ooty choclates can also be procured from here in different varieties.
All the staff members were very couteous.
Happy stay if you choose this one.
