“Spectacular location, a stunning house & truly wonderful hosts”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

We stayed for four nights and everything about La Haute Grange surpassed our expectations. The location is perfect for it is in the centre of lovely Alsace with many many things to do. The best part of staying is the wonderful Margaret and Philippe, who really went out of their way to welcome us and ensure we had a great time. They gave us fantastic recommendations for restaurants and day trips and were kind enough to book tables for us. Philippe showed us a good walk route around the lac noir and lac blanc in the Vosges mountains which was a very special day. We really did not want to leave. I have never felt so relaxed, yet enthused to explore the area. The room and house were breathtaking and even though it sounds like too many superlatives, they are deserved and more. I suggest you book the longest stay you can. You will not be disappointed. We plan to return for sure. Thank you both very much. You made our holiday x

Room Tip: We stayed in a lovely room with a patio balcony. Best room I have ever stayed in.

This is our second visit in Alsace and in La Haute Grange.
Its a fantastic B&B in a beautiful area-highly recommended.
The house is very nice with a special atmosphere and decoration.
The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable, clean and quite with a great view to the garden and the forest.
The location is very good-10 min from Kaysersberg, 20 min from Colmar and about 50 min from strasbourg.
Tere is so much to see and to do in the area . We think its a super place to stay if you want to visit Alsace, the Wine route and of course the christmas markets.
Margaret and phillipe are the owner, they are very nice, friendly and very helpful- always with a smile..
we fell like return home....
Breakfast-every day a new surprise but always so good.....

We would like to thank M&P for the warm hospitality .
We hope to return soon
best regards

We read about La Haute Grange on tripadvisor and it was everything that others have described and more. This was such a delightful B&B and the moment we arrived, we were treated like family friends. We could tell that the owners Philippe and Margaret have restored this old farmhouse into a charming and cosy home filled with love, and we feel so lucky to have stayed with them! Both my husband and I travel extensively and stayed at many B&Bs around the world, but I must say this is one of the best – an authentic and homely place to experience the Alsace countryside. If you like smelling the pine trees, catching a glimpse of wild deers in the nearby woods, waking up to birds chirping and being surrounded by mountains and trees, this is the place to be. But you will need a car & GPS to get there.

We took the Bergamote room with a private bathroom which was very cosy, and the size was perfect for our 4 nights stay. Both Margarent and Philippe are wonderful hosts who went out of their way to take care of us, and even called the car rental company before we arrived, to help us secure an automatic car (as we speak almost no French! ) They also gave us valuable advise where to visit each day, which restaurants to try and even booked all our dinner reservations for us. We were so spoilt for choice and only wished we had more time in beautiful Alsace. Thank you Margaret and Philippe, for a wonderful stay and we hope to come back again soon!

Room Tip: If you are a couple and prefer to have an ensuite bathroom, choose the Bergamote, which als faces th...

La Haute Grange is positioned above a small village which affords it excellent views and immense tranquillity, but it is only a short drive away from the Alsace wine route, the picturesque towns and even the cities are not too long a drive away. It is an idea place from which to soak up the ambience of the area, and as an added bonus, it delivers superb breakfasts, accommodation and little extras. Margaret and Philippe are delightful hosts who are extremely considerate, helpful and informed. Expect to be pampered without feeling crowded.

Fantastic retreat from the normal ok standard. Five star accommodation with superb views from the room, set within a beautiful garden. High quality bedding and high spec bathrooms (we stayed in two rooms over four days). Breakfast was amazing (different crockery everyday !) with fresh local produce and a great choice of things to eat. Massive attention to detail in every respect in regard to making our stay a pleasure. Our hosts were a delight. There are also two playful cats that live at the house and are great fun (kept at a distance if you are not keen on cats). Probably the best B+B we have ever stayed in. Thank you both very much.

We loved our four nights here with Margaret and Phillipe...where to start with something constructive and original...well it is quite remote but not wholly remote in a setting of a few other houses. We had the Badiane room which is lovely but suffered from "Italian noise" from the gite next door for a couple of nights...so if you would like to be sure of quiet head for the other end of the house. Philippe did his best to try to get them to calm down but to no avail!. We were assured that this was unusual and the gite is being sold so hopefully others will not have to put up with it!

The setting is lovely; we enjoyed the garden, having a glass of wine and coffee with our books and the view in the late afternoon...and Margaret's restaurant recommendations were spot on. Breakfast was lovely with the three French couples and us kept in the conversational loop by Margaret and Phillipe's simultaneous translations!! My wife had a daily French lesson over breakfast too !! ( not sure it has helped much,).

I cannot say how much we enjoyed ourselves...it is just the sort of place we like...sociable but private, contemporary in a traditional shell and first class hospitality. Not cheap but worth every penny...sorry euro!

Room Tip: All are lovely but the outside and communal areas will make up for any lack of bedroom space if you...

I would want to agree with every positive comment given by previous reviewers. La Haute Grange is just superb in every way. People have already commented on the quality of the furnishings, the gardens, the space available for guest use and the wonderful breakfasts. Margaret and Philipe are a wonderful combination, genuinely caring that you have a good time and making useful suggestions without ever being overwhelming. They always seem to go that extra mile. One little thing which I loved was the amount of storage space. We stayed for a week and there was plenty of room to store clothing, books and bathroom items so that we never felt we had to live out of our suitcase as is sometimes the case. There is also so much to do in the area and being able to cool off in the hills when the temperatures in the valleys are high is a great relief. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. We stayed in Badiane which was spacious and has its own terrace. However, t...
