“Fantastic Wedding & Family Venue”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We had our wedding at the Downe Arms Hotel in Wykeham, Easter Saturday 2013. From the early days planning right through to checkout after our big day the management and staff were nothing but helpful.
A very well run, clean and friendly establishment.
As for our wedding nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb and the service was professional. Most of the rooms were taken up with our family and everyone was complimentary about the standard of their room.
Highly Recommended.

The Downe Arms Hotel is an excellent venue in Wykeham village and is as different again from the normal hotel meeting venue in Filey. The Ladies Night function was enjoyed by all present. The service was very good and the meal, to pre-arranged choice, was superb. A delightful three piece band topped the evening with music and dancing for all tastes.

Room Tip: This was a Saturday evening function visit with only one or two couples staying over.

We were on a walking weekend in the area, and decided to stay overnight here, the room was very clean and presentable. This hotel is also a pub with separate dining area, we ate there that evening a the food was lovely, and the staff very polite. Overall we had a really great time and will probably return.

I have been staying here roughly three nights a week for the last month or so and the service, food and room standard has never dropped below excellent.

The staff have gone out of their way to make me comfortable and I really feel welcome every time I stay.

Met friends here for an evening out, drank in the bar and ate in the restaurant, the veggie curry was fantastic, great food and service overall and the building itself is lovely, we'll definitely be returning.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely hotel for our Ruby wedding anniversary in November 2012.
The hotel is immaculate, food great and staff without exception very efficient, warm and friendly.
We had a "superior" room (206) which was beautiful and included his and hers bath robes, it had a huge ensuite with both roll top bath and corner shower with fresh towels every day. We had a great time and to make things even better there was a deal whereby if you paid for 2 nights you got the 3rd free (with the proviso that you ate in their restaurant on 2 evenings),this was no problem anyway as the food was reasonably priced and was of very good quality, if you are a steak or curry lover, there are also special mid week deals.
Allin all a lovely experience, we would not hesitate to book the Downe Arms again.

The room was comfortable but the bathroom was smelled of drains and toilet did not flush properly. Two coffee cups and not a lot of milk were provided for 3 of us but staff did oblige and bring us more milk (we ended up sharing a cup). My parents room on a lower floor was very small and their toilet didn't flush properly either. My aunty stayed in a luxury room which was much more pleasant than ours. The breakfast was nice and the open fire very cosy. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

more Just back from 2 nights taking in shooting on the Wykeham estate . We were a party of 8 including a couple and ate in the hotel both nights . Whilst there are special offers - there was a pretty good choice on Thursday curry night for £5.95 including rice , naan and poppadums ! - I stuck to the A La Carte both nights . Now everyone that had curry was very happy but 3 of the group went for pork belly and trimmings for £13.95 . I enjoy restaurants and this was the best of this particular dish I have ever had the fortune of eating . This was on top of lamb rump the first night which was to die for . The hotel needs to retain its chefs - they are producing some great quality at very reasonable prices . The rooms are comfortable , clean and 206 has the biggest en suite ever - bath & shower ! Room rates are reasonable and you get a great breakfast choice . Staff are attentive and more importantly , genuinely hospitable . We have been doing this trip for 3 years now and it gets better and better & noticeable that management are continually trying to make little improvements . Hotel is surrounded by stunning countryside and views . They stoke a fire at night . What else do you want ? Gem .
