“A place for casino-goers and water sports enthusiasts”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

Our group consisted of my parents (both senior citizens), my sister and my brother-in-law with their three kids (ages 2, 7, & 10), my husband, and me, in all my first trimester-pregnant-glory. It was our first trip together, and we couldn't have been anymore excited. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of Legazpi, the highlights of which were a fantastic view of Mayon Volcano via Lignon Hill, and the Cagsawa church ruins. I enjoyed this despite the heat because our tour guide, Bert, made sure we had umbrellas for shade and enough water to drink. Our van also had adequate airconditioning. The hour-long travel that followed going to the resort wasn't entirely comfortable as the road was winding -- not good for people with motion sickness!
The resort, therefore, was such a relief to see after having to endure the vertigo-inducing drive. The view of the beach was lovely, but the sand was rough and only a handful of people can actually hang out at the beachfront. A larger part of it was set aside for water sports, which none of us were interested in because of the extra cost. We spent most of our time either in our respective rooms or at the pools to relax. I loved the daybed in our cozy room, but I found that our closet was too small to accommodate our things. Housekeeping was also rather slow. They were only able to clean our room late in the afternoon, when we were about to head out for dinner.
Misibis Bay is an isolated area, so we actually only went to one place to eat for the three days we were there. In the evenings, buffet was only offered at the casino area, I take it to encourage people to go to the casino afterwards. Since most of the guests did spend their time there, ala carte service tended to take more time at night. It's a good thing we discovered the recreational area and playroom to distract the kids while waiting for our orders. We went as a family, with no intention to gamble. It would have been nice to receive the same quality of service at the restaurant regardless of the time of day.
I enjoyed our trip mainly because of the company. The change of scenery provided for by the resort was just a bonus.

Bought a voucher from Deal Grocer for a 3D/2N stay at a one bedroom premier with an outdoor jacuzzi. A city tour was included in the package but we opted not to avail of this since we have been to Legazpi before. Instead we asked the driver of the hotel van and the hotel staff stationed at the airport to bring us to Alamos eatery. They were surprised that we had knowledge of this eatery since its not the usual tourist spot. It is a "hole in the wall" or rather you dine in the dining room of a local resident. I enjoyed the food there the last time I was in Legazpi that I wanted to go back. Knowing that my husband loves crabs, I had someone from the office preorder our food since we will be arriving late lunch time. We had a sumptious lunch of crabs, shrimps, squid, pork liempo, chicken and sinigang na ulo ng lapu-lapu. After the hearty lunch, we bought some pili nuts and off we went to Misibis. It took us almost an hour and 15 minutes to get to the resort. Upon arrival, we were greeted with Ibalong dancers and welcome drinks with kropek and given fish shaped necklaces made from coconut leaves. The room was so big. We were a group of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and 1 kid. Buri bags and native slippers were provided. The bathroom was huge with a bathtub and L'Occitaine toiletries good for 4 which they replenish daily. Complimentary drinks and biscuits were provided along with the usual coffee and tea. Loved the spaciousness of the place. We stayed in Villa 42. Something was wrong with the flush and the phone, but the resort responded immediately and sent someone to check on it. Staff were very courteous and you see them everywhere. We regretted not taking an earlier flight so we could have enjoyed the facilities longer. The boys took a dip in the infinity pool, the lagoon pool and the kids pool, while hubby and the eldest son played billiards. Afterwards the boys met up at the gameroom and used the Wii and xbox and Playstation.
All meals were buffet, lots of selection but mainly filipino dishes. No ice cream for dessert though. They have a live acoustic music during dinner time, and listening to them reaffirms that Filipinos are really great singers. After dinner, took a dip in the outdoor jacuzzi, just watch out that water will not overflow from the tub or it will reach the outlet. We reported this to the hotel and as before they responded quickly, within 5 minutes in fact.
The next day we tried the zipline and ATV and went to the Stella Maris chapel and the ampitheather which had a great view and was used as one of the pitstops in amazing Race Asia, Since it was too hot to go out, we cancelled the planned snorkeling activity but instead headed for the gym to burn off all the buffet food. After lunch we then headed back to the room to rest and watch a movie.
Around mid afternoon we headed for the beach and do some watersports.
The beach is not as beautiful as bohol or boracay but the non-motorized activities are free. We tried the hobie cat, which we really enjoyed, the stand up paddle board and the pedal boat.We also availed of the sunset cruise but it was cloudy so we didnt get to see the sun set.
We went back to the resort and swam in the pool before dinnertime.
A bit pricey but we knew this before going there. Overall, loved the room, our villa...nice place to relax. Wifi connection was excellent and available all over the place. Will definitely go back especially if good discount deals will be made available.

Room Tip: pick a room on the higher levels for more privacy.

We bought the villa with private plunge pool for 3 days and 2 nights on a coupon deal website and booked the room months in advance. We also paid early for the additional 3rd person. I would say it was a relaxing vacation but for the amount we paid (in spite of the promo price), I expected a little bit more efficiency and attention to the finer details. For one thing, the room and amenities was only made up for 2, and even when we brought this to their attention, they failed to make up the 3rd bed until we left. Turn down service was non-existent, although heavily advertised. Little things were also ignored in the restaurant, such as no tongs/serving utensils for the sushi/maki, which left people to use the same tongs used for the salad. No teaspoons given for your coffee, although milk and sugar were abundant in supply. There were frequent power outages which lasted all of 1 minute but they were often enough to be bothersome.
All in all, it was a relaxing trip which allowed our family to enjoy some quality time together. Generally, the staff was pleasant and the resort itself beautiful. But for the price they charge, I still expected more. Unfortunately, it was not world class no matter how much they advertised it as such. For Misibis Bay, I would go once, then never again.

Room Tip: The one-bedroom villa is a better choice if you are more than 2 persons sharing a room, but if you a...

Upon arrival in Legazpi, after Mayon has emitted ashes, we had our city tour in Lignon hill, Cagsawa Ruins, and Daraga church, We bought some stuff at the pili nut factory and had lunch at 7Degress. We tried their delicacies and it tasted good. Then we went to Misibis Bay which took a 45minute zigzag road ride. When we reached the resort, we were greeted by the Ibalong dancers and were handled cold towels and welcome drinks. Check in was efficient. We stayed at villa 34 for 3D/2N- one bedroom premier with jacuzzi at the veranda. We tried all their activities such as snorkeling, kayak, pedal boat, hobie cat, sunset cruise, fishing, zipline, luge, segway, foosball, table tennis and even computer games. The kids just loved it! The buffet was good. I commend all the staff for being so attentive and accommodating to all our needs. The room was so huge for 3 adults and 2kids. They have bags, and slippers in the room as complimentary. Even the ref has drinks and some biscuits for free. The problem I encountered was the power interruption which happened several times but lasted for few seconds.Hopefully, they will do something about it so as not to dismay guests. But nevertheless, ours is an excellent stay in this resort. I highly recommend it for families and friends for quality time but better avail of DG coupon for a good price. We will be back soon...

Very good service (staff to guest ratio must be at least 2/1)
Very nice resort but our bathroom (shower) flooded after one shower! Service person came right away and removed all kinds of gunk from the drain!
Good food. Buffet has a lot of good choices.
Expensive!

My family (4 children ages 1-8 y/o) went to Misibis summer of 2012. Staff were very kind and helpful. We arrived on a sunday morning and needed a ride to go to church (instead of the local tour they offered in the package). The driver arranged everything, from driving us there to having us picked up at no extra charge. Upon arrival, refreshments and fish crackers were served. The room was big, perfect for our family.
I am not a beach lover but I enjoyed their beach and water sports immensely. There are a lot of people but suprisingly, the beach wasn't overcrowded. We rode the ATV but sadly, it was cloudy that we weren't able to have a view of the Mayon volcano. Our ATV guide even brought water for us and even plastics for our celphones/cameras when it rained. Great service. Great trail (for us beginners).
My only gripe is their resto. The buffet's food isn't worth the price. We ended up ordering alacarte which took forever to be served. Food wasn't bad but not great as well.
I would love to go back there again.

Misibis Bay is a beautiful island resort. Our villa has a master bedroom with two double beds and a daybed; and a receiving room with two chaise longues. We had our own jacuzzi at the verandah. The villa alone is perfect for lounging around and relaxing. The pools offer a nice alternative. When you come here though, expect to do just that. Lounge around and relax- for a couple of days at best.

Activities include taking the zip line, Segway, and ATVs around the complex; and wind surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. at the beach. These are activities that can also be done elsewhere. You won't be missing anything if you opt to skip them. One activity that's different from resorts in Boracay or Palawan is whale watching in Donsol. However, sightings of whale sharks have become rare recently with the influx of motorized boats to the area, that traveling at least 2 hours each to and from Donsol, without guarantee that you might actually get an encounter with these beautiful animals, might be not be worth it especially at the rate of PhP5800 per person for a group of 6 or PhP17000+ if you're alone. Better to just schedule a different vacation to Sorsogon for that.

Dining options are limited. In fact, there is only one main area that serves food. It's actually 3 restaurants/bars rolled into one. The menu for all 3 is the same. Food choices for 3 days and 2 nights are almost the same.

There is also the problem of accessibility. Unless you travel by watercraft or chopper, the road to this haven of relaxation is long and winding. It takes about an hour of traveling through rocky pavements and winding paths to get to and from the resort. The ride can be exhausting and nauseating.

On the brighter side, the staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped make our stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible. So at the end of your trip, it might be best to sleep in the van on your way back to Legaspi airport in order to save whatever level of relaxation you were able to attain during your stay.
