“Lovely cottage for a relaxing break”
Reviewed April 25, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

This was a lovely and very tidy little cottage. My boyfriend and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life and wanted to be out in the countryside where we could walking and relax! This cottage certainly provided that. Its 5 miles from Bakewell and close to Chatsworth so most things were in easy reach. A bottle of Prosecco was presented upon arrival. The only thing is the boiler is in a cupboard in the bedroom and was a little noisy, but not noisy enough to prevent me from going back. Had a lovely time!

Owner comments:- We always leave sparkling wine for an arrival toast while you settle in and start relaxing. The electric central heating boiler is really quiet whilst operating and the programmable timer is set to off during sleeping hours, so its then silent.

“Absolutely Lovely, everything you could need including a quality local pub”
Reviewed January 20, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Had a long weekend at the cottage with my partner to chill out. Lovely cottage, very warm and welcoming when we arrived and as we looked around the cottage we had big smiles on our faces. The local pub is excellent, open fire and quality wines and beer; had a meal there one night, I had the t bone steak which is amazing but couldn't eat anything else on my plate because it was so big.... just great home cooked food.
I would have given this cottage 5 stars except for the shower which is very slow and also a bit unpredicatable..... not a big problem for us but I just wanted to explain why I hadn't given 5 stars.

“Really lovely location and place to stay”
Reviewed January 1, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Stayed for a post Christmas break and this place was perfect. Quiet, located in a peaceful area but close to Bakewell with plenty of walks from the doorstep. From the moment we arrived we felt ourselves unwind, and enjoyed a visit to the local pub which served tasty homemade food on our first evening.

The accommodation is clean, cosy, quiet and warm, and on arrival we enjoyed a complimentary bottle of bubbly. Its well stocked with all you would need and we have already recommended it to friends.

We cant really fault this place!.

“Lovely cottage in picturesque surroundings.”
Reviewed November 26, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Cottage was fantastic with everything you could need, made even more special with the log fire.
Pub at the end of the road done lovely food but the locals were quite rude so didn't go back after the first night.
Instead went into nearby Bakewell and Matlock with plenty of things to do and some amazing scenery. Even walked the 5 miles from Monyash into Bakewell on Sunday morning which took bout hour and half but is one road so you cant get lost and the sights are breathtaking across the Peak District.
Would 100% recommend the Avonlea Cottage itself though. Many thanks to both Chris and Carole.

“Cosy, fully equipped cottage in a beautiful location.”
Reviewed November 11, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Was only there for a long weekend but could have easily stayed for a week. As soon as we walked in the door we loved it. The log burner was a great touch and was much appreciated in the cold evenings. Not that the cottage was cold but set the cosy atmosphere. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were also very nice and we'll equipped. The garden was a perfect match. We were lucky with the weather while we were there and enjoyed local walks, the local pub, a couple of trips to bakewell and a visit to Chatsworth estate.
Also nice that we had direct contact with the owners and felt we'll cared for.
