If you have not yet visited Upper Whitewater Falls in Nantahala National Forest, get there! Of all the breathtaking sights I've seen, this waterfall is one of the most beautiful places I've ever experienced! I was totally shocked at the beauty before my eyes. You will not regret paying the $2 to park and go check it out.

we traveled up 441 to 64 to this fall. What a ride and the falls were breathtaking. There is a path to take to go down to the fall and walk under it. It was beautiful. Free - picnic area there. and not too many steps to the fall. The walkway above is a beautiful photo opt if you do not want to go down. Along the way up the falls the long winding road has glimpses of the river and small falls.

If you love back woods camping, beautiful creeks and cool weather during the summer this is the place to go. Camp on Santeetlah creek visit the Joyce Kilmore Forest, raft the Nantahala RIver, visit the Fontana Dam. Drive the Cherohala Skyway and see the mountains go to a few water falls and don't froget to do the sliding rock in Pisgah National Forest Brevard, NC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv228RlQs5A For those who want the indoor sleeping arrangements there are all kinds of great places for that. It's like being in the Highlands of Scotland with bears instead of sheep

At the point that you have to stop before crossing the road to enter the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, you can turn right and drive 4.3 miles to this observation point. It is a short walk via a boardwalk to a deck built around a large oak tree with a view of the Smoky Mountains at tree top level. Enjoyed this out of the way vista.
