I have to declare a loyalty here; we've been running photography workshops here for 6 years now, with good reason. The standard of service from the family run agroturismo is outstanding and the setting with the view down the Valnerina towards Preci and the mountains of Monti Sibilinni is incomparable. The restaurant serves genuine Umbrian fare of the highest standard and the range of accommodation options will suit all needs. Highly recomended.

We arrived without reservation on this large location in Umbria. The assistance we got from the reception to accommodate us can usually only be expected in smaller places: Fine service with a smile that made us feel welcome. Eventhough Il Collacio is a big place compared to other agriturismos it never gives you the feeling that it's a touristcircus. The premises are stretched out over many terraces with seperate corners for tents/caravans/campers/rentatent etc.The atmosphere is relaxed (without animation team). If your lucky you'll have a pitch with a breathtaking view. We had a good time visiting plenty of natural sites in the mountains of Sibillini.

We spent 9 nts camping at Il Collaccio & it is certainly up there in my top two holidays! The scenery is stunning from all aspects of the site with especially beautiful views from both swimming pools & the restaurant. It was so idillic at the campsite that we had to drag ourselves away to visit other places (Norcia, the Piano Grande, river rafting nearby).
All of the staff were really friendly & helpful & I enjoyed some wonderful outdoor (free) Yoga & Pilates sessions with Akila.
The restaurant is superb; very authentic ( no menu of " Tourist Menu") & such good value with wood oven pizzas at 6 E, homemade pasta dishes 7E and 1/2 litre house wine for 4E! You need to book as the outdoor area & large restaurant were fully booked each night. It was a real pleasure enjoying such good food with our children (10 & 12). The pools are beautifully situated & clean . Although 30 deg in the day it is quite cool at night but that meant good sleep in the tent. So much more I could say ........ will definitely be back !!

We spent 11 days on the campsite. We had a really relaxing holiday. The staff at the campsite were extremely helpful and were always pleasant to deal with.It was very clean. We didn't eat in the restauraunt on the campsite but did get take away pizzas from there that were excellent. We did eat in the restauraunt at the end of the hill which had really good traditional italian food. There are lovely little towns around the area including Norcia and Visso. We had 3 children from 9-13 who enjoyed the pools but would have liked some more ping-pong tables!

We stayed at Il Collaccio for a long weekend mid-May, as members of a David Noton photography course. We'd stayed at agriturismo properties in Tuscany a few years earlier and I hadn't been over-impressed with the food, but Il Collaccio changed my mind totally. The food here is very good, and the staff are, without fail, friendly and helpful. The dinner menu changes every night, and is an excellently cooked (and delicious) selection of locally produced food. They also have a wood fired pizza oven and do a good range of pizzas with a melt-in-the-mouth crust.

We stayed in the Locanda (hotel) part of Il Collaccio and had good sized rooms with large and clean en suite facilities. There were fluffy white bath towels and Italian-style hand towels (cotton, but not towelling) We also had a lovely balcony with table, reclining chairs and sun umbrella - perfect for a mid-afternoon siesta. There were no tea-making facilities in the room but there was an area downstairs with kettle, flasks, cups and saucers, together with a good variety of teas and coffees, plus milk in the fridge. (I'd like to see more decaff varieties offered though).

There's internet access in the main building only (charged at £3 an hour, but you don't have to use the whole hour all at the same time).

The area is stunningly beautiful - lots of varieties of wild orchids around the hotel, and beautiful hilltop towns and snow-capped mountains in the Monti Sibillini national park. We'll be back under own steam to stay again and make the most of everything the area has to offer.

What more can we say, our week at Il Collaccio was wonderful. It was the highlight of our holiday. The scenery was magnificent. The accommodation (Oh so economical !!!), which included ensuite bathrooms was perfect, so authentic with that special Italian touch, so clean, fresh and atmospheric. We had "a room with a view" across the valley to the medieval township of Preci.
The food and wine at the restaurant Al Porcello Felice was divine. (Also very economical !!!) And popular with the local people.
They have an excellent web site (www.ilcollaccio.com) showing the two beautiful Swimming Pools, Camping Grounds, Bungalows, Chalets, Apartments and The Hotel - La Locanda del Porcellino, where we stayed.
The way the Locanda snuggles in amongst the huge oak trees and horse chestnuts made the balcony the perfect rendezvous for our "sundowners". And our breakfasts in the cosy breakfast room were delightful.
It was such a pleasure to chat with the Il Collaccio hosts, Raffaele and his sister Ida who both speak English well. Their kindness and hospitality along with their friendly and helpful staff at Il Collaccio was greatly appreciated. Kevin and Barbara an English couple were very helpful with our bookings and transfers, though it is essential to have a car if you wish to tour around and visit the neighbouring villages.
