“Good value for money”

Not a huge a hotel which is a plus for me as some in NC are enormous. This hotel feels a bit like home from home and the staff, all of them, are polite, helpful and friendly and make a huge difference to a stay. The hotel is a little dated but anything we found not working was always replaced or repaired quickly which is something. Pools are great, safe tunnel under road to their beach side, very scenic and lovely beach and cleaned each day we were there. We went B and B so can't comment about dinner but Lapta has a good few restaurants to sample, some good, very good and OK - we liked the variety and twice tried the hotel and on both occasions thought it was reasonable, meze very good. Location is great, easy access to Girne and anywhere which is a big plus for getting about if you don't hire a car.Clean room, we went poolside with mountain view, enjoyed that, would not like seaview because of the road but I could see the appeal. Good bar in hotel and atmosphere is friendly for all ages. Can't comments in high season but for Sept/Oct worked for us.

Good points and not so good points...
Lovely staff who were unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful
Great swimming pool by the hotel (didn't try pool by the beach)
Good breakfast selection
Nice view of mountains from hotel (away from road side)
All areas of hotel were very clean
Easy to get into Girne/Kyrenia on local shared taxi (dolmus) - 3.50 TL each way

Not so good....
Evening meals - cold meze was good but hot dishes were very unappetising because they were not freshly cooked to order and it was all buffet style
Hotel located next to a busy road - fortunately we had a room away from the road
Private beach next to a large empty building so it was not terribly scenic
Room basic and looked very dated - needed to be brought into the 21st century

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for a room away from the road.

We can find no adverse comments to make about this hotel, staff were friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable and clean. The food was excellent and always plenty of choice. Certainly a place to unwind and relax in the knowledge that you are being very well catered for. The only thing that was slightly discouraging was the flight, the sooner TRNC can be recognised and have direct flights the better. Thank you to everyone at the hotel Julie and Lesley

We had a good room, large, with balcony overlooking pool and wonderful mountain backdrop. Sunny and hot throughout our stay. Room and bathroom always clean. Beds comfortable, but why oh why can't hotels organise to have fitted undersheets, instead of the skimpy sheet which doesn't tuck in and is a wrinkled, lumpy mess by morning ??!! Delightful to eat breakfast on 1st floor balcony, and dinner by side of pool, but food disappointing and soon boring. We ate out after first two evenings -- plenty of choice along well-lit main road, or in Kyrenia. Attractive private beach a very short stroll across road, and supplied with sunbeds (many decrepid) and wooden umbrellas (too small for sufficient shade), and there were too many people smoking and leaving butts, however the sea was a great temperature, and fun in the waves ! Also an infinity pool next to Beach Bar. The whole place really should be idyllic, but seems rather tired. Extremely easy to get to and from lovely Kyrenia on the minibuses which pass by every 10 minutes or so, and beep in the hope you want to travel with them ! We also did 2 excellent excursion days with our tour company. A relaxing and fascinating holiday, but make sure you check your itemised bill at the end ... !

The hotel was pretty basic and looking back I would have asked to change room as ours was just a bit too basic. It was however, quiet which was important. If you want a good choice on the tv dont stay in room 110. On the positive, the staff were delightful, polite and full of good humour. The food was varied and good. I recommend asking the lady at reception for any advice about trips and buses etc as she really is in the know. My daughter and I were respected and not hassled and felt safe.
If you fancy a massage, the hotel have a very fine masseuse called Lily. I am a massage therapist and I can tell you she is bloody good! She comes to the hotel, bookable at reception. Certainly ironed out my tension!
The beach could do with more attention. I would like to see the sand swept and cleared of fag butts. Perhaps some bins strategically placed please! The sun beds need cleaning and restoring and perhaps a good clear of seaweed would encourage swimming. It is in fact not horrid seaweed!
Finally, for £900 for the 2 of us, I feel it was good value and very relaxing. Such lovely people there and plenty to do if that is your desire. Well done all at LA Hotel. Thanks to you all from Louise and Sophie.X

Room Tip: 110 was our room. 2 single beds, noisy fridge, tv limited BUT it was quiet. No kettle, no safe.

We stayed here for 1 week in September 2013. Due to a flight delay we arrived late in the evening and the first room we were given had 2 very small single beds on the ground floor. We asked to change rooms and did but not till the next day. The next room was on the 1st floor with a double bed, balcony, but no kettle, as advertised on their web site. We also found our room left unlocked by the cleaners and did mention this at reception and it was then locked.
The pool on the beach is lovely, the beach is small but plenty of sun beds, no need to get up early to put your towel down. The week we were there, there was a lot of sea weed washed up and it wasn't cleared away, which spoilt the beach. The beach bar serves simple but good food, drinks and ice creams which you can put on your room bill, so no need to take money out with you.
The food is the hotel was very good and plentiful, at breakfast there was an egg man, cooking omelets and pancakes. The evening was buffet style with 2 main choices and loads of side dishes. Not a huge choice of hot food if you were a veggie. Puddings of sticky honey type cake were delicious. Evening entertainment was a little bit "home grown" but fun and ok. There are a few tavernas nearby with karaoke being very popular.
Buses into Kyrenia were easy to get and cheap 3.50TL each way, just stand outside the hotel and wave when the mini bus toots at you, pay on exit. Be warned if you have small children sit near the back as they don't close the sliding doors, as it's to hot. There is a local supermarket that sells just about everything you may need.
Overall a good relaxing holiday and we would go back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are noisy because of the road, as are the ones near the side. The 2 rooms we had...

We are glad you had an overall good holiday with us and would look forward to welcoming you again.
Just to clarify a couple of points you mentioned which were unexpected for you understandably.
The hotels provided kettles in room free of charge for most of the season but due to a particularly large group of visitors from a certain destination, unfortunately many kettles went 'missing' , the hotel were unable to purchase a sufficient number of kettles in time and so we had to keep kettles at reception and provide them to our guests, still free of charge, but with a returnable deposit to ensure we maintained stock for our guests, particularly our UK guests who invariably require kettles. This should have been communicated to yourselves and a kettle provided, but if it was not for any reason may I apologize on behalf of the hotel for this and will ensure any mis-communications are minimized.
Regarding the seaweed on the beach, You may have noticed our staff rake the beach every morning but at the point where the LA Hotel's beach ends it belongs to the council and there was seaweed that amassed there since they usually bring machinery i.e a dozer to collect it which we are not allowed to do and it is not manageable manually, this was not done in time and unfortunately there ended up some seaweed in piles but we regularly maintain all areas belonging to the LA beach and pool carefully and would hope this did not detract much from your time on the beach.
We thank you again for your points as the LA is building continously upon guest feedback in order to improve your holiday experience, we look forward too seeing you again.

Arrived late evening and didn't like our room so asked for it to be changed. Reception asked us to sleep in the room overnight as the hotel was fully booked. Staff moved us to an excellent room next morning. All staff extremely pleasant and helpful, particularly the reception and beach bar.Food was plentiful and well presented, but as with all buffet style meals, they can rapidly become boring, but there are a number of restaurants and bars close at hand, two or which are really first class. This appeared to be the only hotel in the area with access to a beach, and many would involve a long walk just to get to the main road and buses. Unbelievably none of the bathrooms in the hotel has a razor point, so if you have an electric razor or toothbrush make sure that you take an adapter with you - we spent an entire morning in Kyrenia hunting one down and were only successful when we saw one of the staff from the beach bar walking towards us and he spent 30 minutes taking us round back streets to find an electrical store. If you fancy a boat trip don't book one of the tours - just jump on the bus to Kyrenia, walk down to the harbour and pick a boat that appeals to you and save money
