Before I start on my review, I wanted to talk about the reason's why people leave reviews.
Some leave a bad review because they are angry and want to damage the business.
Some leave brilliant reviews because they want to please the hotel owner, they see the hotel through the rose tinted spectacles that some owners look through.

I believe in leaving honest reviews aimed at helping fellow travellers make informed choices regarding their buying decisions, and also as valuable feedback for hotel/business owners so that they can improve their businesses.

First the good.
Reception staff were great, we emailed the hotel when we booked asking for a room in the main hotel above ground floor, when we got there after a 14 hour journey, it was to be told that our room was one of the chalets across from the main hotel and we had the ground floor.

We went back to reception being cranky complaining tourists, this reflected how tiring the journey was, the receptionist ( Ayleen) spoke to the boss and told us that we could have the room that we wanted tomorrow... and the next day, we were moved to a large room on the third floor with sea views from all 3 verandas.

So service and friendliness of staff was great, 5 Star.

The hotel itself... Not so good.
The Hotel is in desperate need of total renovation, the paths coming from the outlying chalets have block paving that is not finished and is uneven. This is a trip hazard especially during the evening when the paths are poorly illuminated.

The patio area around the swimming pool has many split paving stones, some of which have risen up not only creating trip hazards but have sharp edges. This is potentially dangerous.

The dining room has brick effect wallpaper that is starting to peel.

The rooms: On the third floor, the doors looked as if they had been poorly repaired, the door entry card readers were loose on the door, the furniture was tired, there were lots of cracked tiles in the bathroom, there were marks on the walls,.

What surprised us most was that there was no mattress protectors on the mattresses. This unfortunately meant that the mattresses have been subject to the personal bodily aromas of every person who has stayed in that room.

Sadly for us, the mattress had reached the point where it could absorb no more, and instead managed to combine all those odours together to create "eau de B O"

Hotel Policy: Signs everywhere asking guests not to bring food into the hotel and that food found in the fridge in the room that wasn't purchased in the hotel would be confiscated and returned at the end of the guests holiday.

The moment a guest reads this, it creates an adversarial relationship between the hotel management and the guests, it antagonises the guests who then regard it as their mission to bring food and drink back to their rooms not purchased in the hotel with the express and serious intention of eating and drinking it.

I understand that you want guests to only eat and drink what they buy from the hotel, but this is an unrealistic expectation.

I would suggest setting up a shop area in the hotel grounds where guests can buy all the foods that you don't like them buying outside, you make money out of their purchases you get rid of the signs forbidding outside purchases and everyone is happy.

Our recommendations to the hotel management are:
Total renovation to a reasonable standard of the whole hotel (Capital investment)
Mattress protectors on all mattresses.
Change your policy on outside purchases and give guests the opportunity to buy from an on-sight shop

Just returned from another lovely stay at the Sempati Hotel. This is our second time staying there for three weeks. The staff were very great, friendly and helpful and looked after us very well. The food was very tasty with plenty of choice at breakfast and for our evening meal. We especially enjoyed the soup each day, the Cyprus steak and the various chicken dishes on offer throughout our stay.
The room was very comfortable, cleaned daily with fresh towels and fresh flowers. Our room was in a great position with extra balconys and great views of the sunrise. A small criticisum would be that we felt the hotel needs some areas of update but this was not detrimental to the overall comfort of our stay.
A comment we read about cats around the hotel this we felt on observation was caused by guest staying at the hotel feeding them during meal times whilst at their tables. Taking food of site and feeding them would be better or have a feeding station away from the dining room/bar area where guest could put food they could not eat!!
We would stay here again as we also loved the location for walks along the coastal path and for the little bays to have a swim as a change from the hotel pool which was well maintained, checked daily and always clean. Look forward to visiting again.

Sempati hotel is amazing. The host and staff was so kind and made us feel so welcome. All our wishes were more then met. We truly enjoyed the pool. From the hotel we could easily explore the area. I would definitely recommend this hotel

Room was clean, bathroom was acceptable, the only one disadvantage was that wifi was available only in the reception - not in the rooms. The happybar wifi was reachable from all balconies, but this wifi is only for hotel employees. Perhaps install a second wifi transmitter in the hotel pool bar and all guests will be able to connect when sitting on balcony. Or install a wifi repeater on each floor. ;) Staff was very polite and willing to help. Waiters were professionals and the cooks cooked a good food. We liked the presence of animals (dogs, cats) in the hotel. We did not like the presence of flies in the outside dinnes tables. Perhaps teach the cats to hunt the flies. :-D Just kidding.
For us travellers, who rented a car and were on roadtrip all day long the hotel was perfect - nice, clean place to sleep with good food and personell for reasonable price. The other guests, who spent all day sunbathing nearby the hotel pool seemed to be happy as well. For people who require too fancy or luxurious hotel I do not recommend this one. If I visit the North Cyprus again, Sempati will be my hotel of choice.

We spent a week here as we had stayed 2 years before, my wife posted a review about this hotel and we received a reply from the owner which was full of lies. We ate in the hotel EVERY DAY AND EVENING except 1 evening we had gone in Kyrenia. choice of dinner was poor.We were served chips every evening. One evening they had boiled potatoes but by the time we went for dinner at 7.30 these had all gone and was replaced with chips!.when my wife complained about the uncooked fish she was offered another plate of fish! Nothing else.the receptionist and waiters came to apologize but the manager/owner didn't. He didn't even try to sort the problem he left it to his staff. This could be a good hotel if a little work was done to it. The staff are brilliant, very friendly and accommodating . Shame to say we wont be returning.

Dear Jlowe,

As my replay will be same, we write all about the true, we work so hard to make our client happy, and this is from waiter to receptionist, maids, gardener, account to manager, to owner, we are all family here at sempati. and its a team work, i will write again and we write all about true, when your wife complaint about the fish, as you are saying waiters barmen, offered to cook anything else, and they offered you drink, however your wife still shouting to us, which we upset a lot. Our Foods fresh and different every night and we don't cook chips every nights its opened buffet there is different foods, chicken fish, mezes, potatoes, chip.s variety of the food. so if even every night chips on buffet, but its not just chips, there is variety of foods, so you can have chips, or boiled potatoes or roasted potatoes,
but as you are saying there was boiled potatoes and finished that minute and they put chips in that box, however its not difficult to ask waiter can i have boiled potatoes, and our lovely staff never say no to you.

In our family business policy is Customer is always right and we do apologize about your experience and we hope to see you again

Kind regards

Owner.
