“A Must Do!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

This place is hands down magical! An amazing host who welcomes you in like family and creates the most wonderful atmosphere. The hostel itself is clean, modern, and so comfortable. But moreover, you feel at home. The host (Francesco) cooks amazing family style meals where everyone sits around drinking wine, eating, and talking about the day's adventures. While some might worry about the location-- Do not!! It is a wonderful way to see the beautiful costal mountains, and is so relaxing after a day spent at the beach (if anything it is nice to get away). There is a free shuttle to and from, offering total peace of mind. A MUST DO if you are traveling to Cinque Terre, or even an excuse to go to Cinque Terre just so you can stay here. Cannot wait to come back!

This hostel is the greatest hostel I have ever stayed at. Located just a short 15 minute drive out of Monterosso, the owner organizes a great shuttle service where he drives everyone to and from Monterosso. The drive is beautiful, and the hostel is located in a quiet village- one that most tourists don't see. The owner cooks homemade meals for everyone for a very reasonable price, and eating dinner together makes the hostel feel more like a family.

We had an unforgettable and personable experience here, thanks to the amazing service provided by the owner Francesco, and we highly recommend staying at this hostel!

This was hands down the best hostel I have ever stayed in. 3 friends and I stayed here for Easter weekend, and we all loved it! It's in a little town just outside Monterosso (the northern most land in the Cinque Terre), but the hostel offers a shuttle to and from Monterosso - just let them know ahead of time when you want it based on when their van will run. You even get a welcome drink (a small glass of red wine) out on the patio when you arrive! But the hostel is gorgeous! As of April 18th, it was only 17 days old, and everything is brand new because they just completely renovated it. The place was super clean and it was really nice! My friends and I stayed in a 7 bed mixed dorm that had 3 sets of bunk beds and a single bed. The room had lockers, but you must provide your own lock. (No big deal.) There's a nice patio out back with cushioned benches, tables and chairs, and a great view of the mountins! This is the only place (besides the breakfast room) where you can get wifi, but it was so nice and quiet to sit out there that it didn't even matter! If you get cold out there, just let the owner know and he'll get you a blanket.
The owner, Francesco, is really accomodating and super friendly! The hostel offers a free breakfast of coffee, tea, cornflakes, and milk, but then you have the option of purchasing (for example) a hot breakfast. My friends and I did this Easter morning and it was awesome! It was only 5€ and we got toast, eggs, tomatos, salsa verde (like pesto - but with parsely instead of basil), freshly squeezed orange juice, and an espresso. It was amazing! It was all fresh ingredients, and Francesco prepared it for us personally. We also ate dinner at the hostel the night before, and it was just as wonderful! He made hamburgers with meat that he bought from the local butcher that had been cut that morning! It was awesome!
The whole experience was really wonderful, and don't let it's lack of reviews turn you away because as I said, this was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. They really made you feel like you were a part of their family. (:

I have stayed in my fair share of hostels over the past few months, but the 5 Backpackers was by far my favorite! It is away from the crowds of the main towns in Cinque Terre, and sits on top of beautiful mountains. The owner made us feel like part of his family. He would shuttle us to and from the main town of Monterosso daily, cooked delicious home-cooked Italian meals, and checked up on us regularly to be sure that everything met our expectations. The room was clean, the bathrooms and showers were immaculate, the linens were freshly washed, and the service was friendly. I would recommend this quaint, house-like hostel in the woods to anyone traveling to Cinque Terre.

Stayed at 5terre backpackers for a couple nights and was pleasantly suprised by the fantastic view provided ontop of the mountain along with clean/spacious rooms and great facilities. With this, service is also great, owner Francesco is there to help with any need you require as well as sorting out transport straight to the beautiful Monterosso! In all, was a great and non costly experience right near the Cinque Terre! Highly reccommend
