Gnejna Bay is one normally used only by the locals as it is hidden away by the village of Mgarr.
The beach itself is golden sanded with beautiful crystal clear waters and you can hire canoes there if you feel the urge to go and do some water sports; don't expect the amenities that you will get on the more tourist orientated beaches though
Down one side are what the Maltese term as "garages", these are small buildings that people use when they are at the beach when they need shade/cooking/resting etc. and you will find lots of locals around this side of the beach.
This is a great place to come and get away from the crowds and in the evening you will always find people having a barbecue here as well as couples sitting in the sand watching the sunset.
If you are a film buff, the scene from Troy where Brad Pitt is sparring with his cousin in some ruins was filmed here, and the beaching scene from his boat was filmed in teh next bay over.
